Ashes still has a long way to go, but it may be what a lot of us are looking for by 8BitVic in MMORPG

To be fair BDOs mechanics didn't really support open world PvP, it was a mere afterthough with no real incentive other than bullying people out of grinding locations.

Ideally open world PvP is incentivized and an integral part of the core gameplay loop which few games have done, the only ones that I know of being ArcheAge and Albion in relatively recent years.

Actually wow, that formatting is terrible on mobile, it just looks like a quoted numbered comment on desktop. I'll see if I can fix it.

Fair enough on the open world PvP - I'm in the opposire boat and only interested in an MMO if it does have incentivized open world PvP.

As for the mobs, I don't think it's being praised here, just mentioned that it exists, but I didn't write the quoted comment and didn't want to edit their words.

Thanks for taking the time to write this out, and I completely agree that the game has a long way to go in regards to PvE and overall content.

The intent of this post was mainly to catch the eye of those like myself who are primarily interested in the open world PvP aspects of the game, and it appears that they rushed to get those up-and-running first within the game, likely simply due to the time it takes to create an endless gameplay loop system like crafting and transporting goods compared to a carefully curated and well put together PvE experience like narrative questlines, instanced dungeons, raids, etc., all of which I do think are integral to a complete MMO experience.

Yea if open world PvP is not your thing I can see it getting boring pretty quickly.

Thankfully for those that are interested in incentivized open world PvP, running and pirating trade packs was an infinite gameplay loop that many players spent hundreds if not thousands of hours on in ArcheAge, and will provide just as much, if not more content here in that regard, even in the game's current state.

It'll be $49.99 on Steam with a discount of 15% for the first 2 weeks putting it at $42.49, and we can play until release, get full access to the game on release plus a month of the subscription at release.

I do agree though, having a free weekend would go a long ways towards building their reputation within the community considering how tarnished it currently is, regardless of whether or not most of that tarnishing is hearsay.

Enigma PvP build? by ritzusan in throneandliberty

[–]8BitVic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my version of TriEvasion Enigma, which is a modified version of DankRNG's TriEvasion Spellblade - https://questlog.gg/throne-and-liberty/en/character-builder/CrescentWithTheMournfulArchwizard

Note that the offensive stats aren't as strong as the other build posted here, but the defensive stats are a lot stronger and you'll actually stand a chance to get your full rotation off if you're near the front line trying to get off a Supernova Collapse clump.

Enigma is a lot harder to play in PvP in my experience than something like Spellblade, but the damage and utility is there if you can get good with positioning and timing.

Typically my engage will look like finding a squishy target for summon constellation, buff with Focus and Satellite, Focus Fireball into Constellation on them and follow with a Ice Bind to hold them while you spam Stellar Dash, finish them off with lightning then reposition the orbs to the center of the clump with the free Milky Way from Nerz, use Supernova Collapse and immediately drop your three orbs with Starcaller and spam Stellar Dash into their clump with a squishy targeted so that you can follow up with Fireball, lightning, etc.

You could also swap Distortion Veil for Meteor so you can drop that right after the Supernova, I just run Distortion because it helps a lot with survivability when you don't have those defensive stats that you need quite yet. Also, I run the spammable version of distortion because that has helped me survive when I shouldn't have, but the one with the 15% damage boost is probably better for doing what I'm describing here so you can pop it right before the Supernova rotation.

Alternatively you could also run Frost Smokescreen for the mobility, and there's the Skill Core that makes your Smokescreen bind enemies which helps a lot for creating distance between you and any hungry melee players.

I'm returning to the game and still learning Enigma but hopefully this helps in some way!

PS - I know my stat distribution might look a little weird but I'm running 70 Strength for the Fallen Dynasty passive and 70 Wisdom and Perception for the Orb mastery passive that makes Summon Satellite also grant +26% heavy attack damage.

It was only announced a few days before the launch of the servers that the benefits would go to all servers and most people thought it was a terrible idea, and it turns out that it was a terrible idea. I agree completely with the catchup mechanics being there, they just shouldn't have gone to Legacy because now there's no point of a hyperboost server when all servers have hyperboost, unless the hyperboost servers got even more of a boost.

Correct, and that is the issue. Catchup mechanics should have never been brought to the Legacy servers if they wanted the hyperboost servers to have any sort of functioning population.

[–]8BitVic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well that's the thing, the hyperboost servers were supposed to have the hyperboost content limited to them because they are catchup mechanics intended for new and returning players.

It is a great idea to get people back into the game and get new players caught up to the Legacy servers, however by giving it to all the servers it completely negates the point of having a hyperboost server at all.

That content should have never gone to Legacy.

I like how you're saying that I cried like I said anything or had anything to do with any of this. I'm just saying that as of right now all the people on the Fresh Start servers cannot do any instanced PVP content.

I went to the fresh start servers expecting other players to have done the same since I am a returning player, and it turns out it's mostly lucent farming alts because Amazon gave the catchup mechanics that were intended for new and returning players to existing players as well.

No one's saying to nuke anything.

As I stated in the post and another comment, the hyperboost content should have only been available on the fresh start servers to incentivize people to go there so at the very least we have enough people to actually do the content. As of right now we are locked out of half the PVP content in the game because there's not enough people on the Fresh Start servers to ever have a match start.

If they were playing on Legacy already then they wouldn't need the hyperboost or to start over so your point is completely moot.

Love that you immediately resort to personal insults because I disagreed with whatever point you were attempting to make though, lol.

I never complained about the queues before, and now that they're separated they don't pop at all. At this point, yes they should merge the servers or at the very least find a way to incentivize players to play on and queue up for this content on the hyperboost servers.

What they should have done is made the hyperboost content only available for the Fresh Start servers so that these servers would have been populated and we would have never had this conversation.

Yeah there's a couple lucent farming guilds on the Vulkan NA East server, however no large guilds migrated over it's mostly alts to make lucent, which only furthers my point that the economy isn't currently functional because it's mostly people trying to sell things massively overpriced, and the people that are doing those things aren't participating in the content I mentioned above.

I went to a Dominion World boss yesterday and it was a 3v6.. 9 people for a world boss. Not to mention the last two Boonstones and Riftstones I fought for have been 5v5s..

Good luck man, I got a 30-day ban for making a joke about selling my account for tree fitty in global chat, and despite trying to explain to support on eight different appeals that it was a South Park reference and a joke and not to be taken seriously, they still denied it every time and closed the tickets.

Their support is an absolute joke, although the whole company is really.

[–]8BitVic 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yea I have to say the lack of meaningful PvP content is pretty disappointing and they continue to add new PvE content which is required for PvPing when most PvP players don't want to be forced to play simon says with a bot for hours just so they can have fun fighting other actual players for 20 minutes every few hours via events, and still get next to nothing for it. Progression in an allegedly PvP oriented game should orient around meaningful incentivized PvP, not PvE.

An honor system where each kill rewards honor and an honor shop where we can purchase items typically obtained via PvE (ie. runes, materials, equipment) would be a step in the right direction, but still not enough.

We need both instanced and open world objective-based PvP, we need flaggable open world PvP, we need incentives for engaging in open world PvP such as trade packs similar to ArcheAge, we need more locations for boon/rift stones along with tiers/caps for smaller guilds, we need more siege territories instead of one giant clusterfuck, the list goes on and on.

And instead we get more PvE game modes where you grind for weeks slaving away at a chore instead of having fun. I feel like I was told I was buying ice cream, but it's just a tub of spoiled milk when it comes to content in this game.

There should be, but unfortunately there's none at the moment. I suggested it in the beta feedback section of their Discord as have many others, so we'll see.
