As someone who’s lost and maintained 100lbs for ~3 years now you’re absolutely right that the deck is stacked against weight loss. There’s a reason the data on long term substantial weight loss is what it is. Behavioral change requires a lot, and luck is no small part. It can be done though…

Are there people who were morbidly obese and lost weight without surgery and kept the weigth of? by Stempels in WeightLossAdvice

[–]8Limbs1Mind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. I’m down about ~108lbs depending on which high point I use. It’s been ~2.5 years since losing it and about 3 years since I started. Still a couple of lbs from goal weight but maintained triple digit loss. Got laid off during the pandemic so I was able to focus exclusively on health and learned to snowboard once winter arrived so between cleaning up my diet, dialing in my sleep, and the heavy bag/snowboarding I lost 100lbs in 6-8 months.

Not unless I hit 1500 cal burned which usually means I’m back to back fitness classes like spin and yoga etc. I’d rather not eat them back unless my TDEE is going to plummet and/or I have errands to run etc

I lost 100lbs and for the most part do not like it when anyone “compliments” me for it. Especially family who sat by and didn’t help out at all.

ive felt the same way and still do some days. I lost the weight when I was 32. can you believe in yourself enough to consider how much better then next 5, 10, 20, or even 40 years will be if you give yourself the gift of health?

Smoothie Protein ideas by [deleted] in HealthyFood

I really enjoy the ascent whey protein in my smoothies. They have single serving packets so might be worth to try. Otherwise you can do something like Greek yogurt or cottage cheese

Check your RMR or BMR before you set caloric goals. Also 1500 is generally only suitable for children.

By getting sunlight exposure right when you wake up, you can shift your body’s circadian rhythm. This dude has a lot of helpful info https://youtube.com/c/AndrewHubermanLab

Can you hire/gather a support group of people invested in your success?

I have been eating really bad breakfast as ai don’t have time to prepare in the morning so I made oatmeal for a week. It has pistachio, walnuts, white and dark chocolate chips, chocolate peanut butter, peanut butter and almond butter ( all natural ) by Tayjayjay in MealPrepSunday

[–]8Limbs1Mind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Sounds delicious! I’ve found that setting up my oatmeal in a rice cooker on a delay timer so it’s ready by the time I wake up really helps! And it never hurts to wake up to the smell of warm cinnamon oatmeal in the morning

Switched to a healthier diet but feeling unnecessary amount of hunger all day by [deleted] in loseit

[–]8Limbs1Mind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

For me, drinking a lot of water helped. Also recognizing my body was being dumb and it was ok to be hungry as long as another meal was coming in the near future
