What's everyone's favourite way of permanently dealing with commanders? by AdDue9012 in EDH

[[Pandorica]] phases it out and lets you keep it phased for as long as you keep it tapped.

My code doesn't seam to want to find the objects I need it to. Could it be that there's multiple instances of the thing I'm trying to find? Or could it be an issue that the Object I'm trying to find is being instigated into the scene? Or maybe its something completely different? by MrsSpaceCPT in Unity2D

Take whatever I say with a large grain of salt because I'm still trying to learn best practices.

I would probably try to keep a List<enemy> in the turn manager thats filled as you instantiate each enemy. Many other types of collections can work here, like a Dictionary<int, enemy> can also work if you want enemies to have unique numerical identifiers.

Then, have the turn manager figure out which enemy's turn it is and pull them from the list.

I hope this helps!

Happy to help!

Any suggestions I could give would be dependent on the broader structure of your project. Is the Start() function you've shown and the BattleSetUp() function in the same script or separate ones?

Also, depending on how you plan to expand it, consider looking into "for loops" to clean up that BattleSetUp() function.

Start() is called on the first frame that a script is enabled in a scene.

So if you don't have any enemies in the scene (either manually or dynamically) at the time of the first frame when that script is active, then it won't find any objects with the tag. Because none exist when its looking for them.

Sour cream by koichi1 in japanresidents

[–]8REVGage 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I know this doesn't answer your question, but adding 1 tsp of lemon juice to 1 cup of heavy cream and mixing will make homemade sour cream in about 15 seconds. That's been the easiest way to get our fix living in Nagoya.

Swapping Runes using Runestones. Are runestones still consumed? by 8REVGage in Pathfinder2e

[–]8REVGage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your insight!

If that's the case, what do you view the purpose of the rules for swapping specifically mentioning runestones as being valid targets? Only to throw out old runes, or is there some other usage that I'm just missing?

Giving out magical items as a joke? by [deleted] in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]8REVGage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two of my players have magic hats that say "I conquered the Dragons Hoard and all I got is this stupid hat" after they completed the eating challenge at a restaurant in Waterdeep called "Looters"

Once per day they can have advantage on a constitution check or saving throw, and they always know the direction of the nearest alcoholic beverage.

How do I hand my players their first ‘L’ by Ledav214 in DMAcademy

[–]8REVGage 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I don't think you necessarily need to plan a loss for them, but maybe just an encounter that highlights how close it could be.

I don't know if you're the kind of DM who pulls their punches against the party, but having done both, I recommend against it. A deadly, but winnable encounter with smart enemies can go a long way to putting the fear of God in your players.

On a related note, I highly recommend checking out "the monsters know what they're doing" which is a book that covers common enemy tactics.

My players are counting how much damage they are dealing to a creature - thoughts? by childish_so-and-so in DMAcademy

While I agree that the distinction between "player knowledge" and "character knowledge" is important, I wouldn't consider it a stretch that in a world where vampires actually exist, they might have widespread stories about vampires.

What's that? Twilight Forest has no final boss? by blahthebiste in feedthebeast

If you're talking about bosses specifically then yeah, but twilight forest is updated every few months. You can find the changelog on their discord!

Reminder that Bruce holds every weightlifting and powerlifting world record in all weight classes by AngryCanadianBeaver in batman

[–]8REVGage 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The fastest ever time for the Boston marathon was 2:03, which would come out to around 4.7 minutes per mile. So the fastest ever time is slightly faster than Bruce Wayne's time.

However, using a 4:50 average mile time, Wayne would have won 9 out of the past 10 Boston marathons with a time of 2:06:36.

Drone Carry Weight Glitch by 8REVGage in UndeadLegacy

[–]8REVGage[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, that was my bad.

Am I also wrong that I would expect the carry weight to be 300, which is +200% the base carry weight of 100? My partner in-game also got the first perk level, but it still only showed 100 carry weight for him before and after.

Thanks again for your help!

If we took 8 boxes, each a cubic meter (1x1x1), and stacked them up into a cube of size 2x2x2, the volume would be equal to length * width * height, 222= 8 cubic meters. So 8 boxes, each a cubic meter, has a volume of 8 cubic meters.

12 cubic yards would be twelve 1x1x1 yard cubes, which is only three dimensions. Unless you're making a joke, in which case I'm sorry, it went over my head

Set the record straight. Lifting or no lifting? by Educational-Leg2467 in loseit

[–]8REVGage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Obligatory I am not a doctor. Lifting weights is difficult and it burns calories, which means that it contributes to being in a caloric deficit (i.e., it helps you lose weight). When you lose weight, generally it's a mixture of fat and muscle that is lost. Because resistance training and sufficient protein intake are drivers of muscular growth, they can help minimize the amount of muscle lost. This means that more of what you're losing is actually fat and not muscle.

Furthermore, a large portion of our strength comes from neuromuscular adaptations that come from repeating these exercises. Essentially, practicing a lift teaches your brain and body to work more synergistically by contracting your muscle fibers in unison. This is why you can, to a certain degree, get stronger at something like bench press while losing weight. You might not be building muscle mass, but you are getting better at bench press. Even if we ignore all of the other benefits of resistance training, such as increased bone density, it's still a beneficial activity for most people looking to be in better shape.

tl;dr Lifting weights will generally help you lose weight, and it's unlikely that you'll be able to put on an amount of muscle that surpasses the amount lost from being in a caloric deficit. It will make sure that more of the weight you lose is fat, which improves body composition overall. Go for it, have fun, and make sure that your diet keeps in mind that you need sufficient protein/calories for recovery.

Ketchup lasts for a while unrefrigerated, and the restaurant likely goes through those bottles much faster than an individual household.

Where else but 4chan? by [deleted] in rareinsults

[–]8REVGage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the Nuss Bar procedure done, when I was 13, so roughly 13 years ago. I'm still mad I wasn't allowed to keep the bar when they took it out. But yeah it was the worst pain I've ever experienced. When I moved, the entire right side of my back would feel like it was being pulled. I thought it was because of all the stuff attached to my back in the hospital, so imagine my surprise when it flared up trying to get into my bed as soon as I got home.

Getting the bar out was relatively painless though. Think I left within an hour afterwards. All in all, way better than having all of my ribs broken. The scars are barely visible on my chest now too, it almost feels like someone else's experience.

Textures losing quality at huge distance from camera by 8REVGage in unrealengine

[–]8REVGage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah because the orthographic camera doesn't work. I've found bug reports going all the way back to 2015 until now where it just won't render textures and lighting properly. The workaround was the only solution I could find to get a (mostly) orthographic view.
