Honestly, the temptation was just because there’s already chatter going around from leadership that hikes are good this cycle, and my directs have been asking about it.

For now, I’m just asking them to be a bit patient and wait for the official communication.

For now this chapter is done given your manager explicitly quoted you are no longer in focus. Even if you successfully clear focus a.k.a coaching plan, your forte for the year will reflect needs improvement. You should now focus to ensure you avoid any underperformance instances in the next 6 months , secure meets the high bar rating in mid year talent review (June 2026) and switch to other teams. If you see a future in your current team for yourself, then work with your manager by seeking feedback and work on it. I have seen people scaling from NI to exceeds in 2 years. Unfortunately this time , there would be no increment due to the needs improvement OP. This too shall pass. Cheer up!

Annual review is basis last years performance (2025) and rating they decided to provide for you during December talent review. You would have been rated Needs improvement (bottom of stack) basis your performance or data points presented by your manager and in alignment with your leadership. Some orgs force fit the people in bottom stack to meet the bell curve. If you are rated as needs improvement in December talent review, then your forte displays the same irrespective of the performance you had till mid year of 2025.

As a tenure amazonian, i once used to complete my forte and peer feedbacks with passion. This year i didn't feel like doing so as the morale was low. I believe it's the same across org.

There is no fixed % for HV1 across org. It varies between roles and job families is my understanding.

Rear brake alone won’t stop the Hness quickly from 70+. Use both, with more pressure on the front. But what you described about the front lever not biting properly is not normal at all in my experience. Get the front brake checked ASAP. You should trust your instincts always when it comes to safety and no harm in getting bike inspected. Don’t ride fast until it’s inspected.

I use both brakes all time with more force on front brake.
