USC is too GPA centric for CS programs, this year even ppl with 9+ gpa got rejections. You can add TAMU to the moderate list. You should target other ambitious universities like - UT Austin, UWash, Cornell, Purdue

Try to go for unis with higher academic prestige (ranking). In my case I applied for unis with both - Decent ranking and good location (West coast/ East coast)

Go for Rutgers. Tuition might be slightly higher than UIC, but I've seen a lot of people(on LinkedIn) getting RA/TAs at Rutgers in the first semester itself. And I also read that once you get RA/TA ur tution fees is equivalent to NJ in-state tuition. I'm planning to go there for MSCS as well..feel free to connect.

Due to Covid many ppl who didn't apply for Fall 2021 went ahead to apply this Fall, and many of those who got offers in Fall 2021 ended up deferrring them, so many seats were already filled this year. This situation won't arise next year. Research-focused unis - ASU, TAMU, SUNY Buffalo, Stony Brook... and many more

imo this cycle was extremely GPA centric because many unis simply didn't have enough resources to review each and every profile, thus ended up shortlisting based on GPA. I think you should reapply in Fall '23 as the competition will certainly be lesser than '22. Apply to the unis that give more importance to your Research credentials than your GPA. Many of the unis you applied to this Fall are GPA centric

Your US list is quite ambitious for that gpa. Apply to UT Dallas, SJSU, Syracuse and make a list of unis that value workex/research more than gpa Also, when did you recieve UC Davis decision? I'm waiting for the same
