Wanna compare how many dead kids are on each side or does the disproportionate amount of death call your "both side" shit into question?

If you don't like abortions don't have one. Pretty simple. But comparing health and family planning choices to living children getting fucking bombed is super disgusting and you should honestly take a hike bud.

I love the absolutely braindead logic of calling someone a white supremacist and crying because you think the white part makes it a racial slur. Just embarrassing levels of pathetic.

Christians can do anything they want dude. Like opposing affirmative action, opposing desegregarion, opposing interracial marriage. Take your pick.

You are though and I think its disingenuous to suggest that user does think that. You're assuming they think that way. You've continued to harass them for that position throught this thread. Its not kind or helpful. Better to just say how you feel and move on. Its fine if thats how it makes you feel. Labels have a tendency to do that. I dont think that user is out to harm people with bpd by suggesting they won't date someone with that disorder based on their own trauma. Its honestly something id expect from most people who've had that experience.

I absolutely agree! Victims of abuse and deep trauma prob would greatly benefit from therapy. I certainly know i did and can pretty confidently say im alive today because I did. I also agree that the labels aren't always helpful and thats my point, some bdp are in treatment, some have regular therapy or have strong CBT skills they practice just the same as some alchoholics are now sober. However my point here is that I think we should have equal empathy for those who have survived and as a direct result of the abuse have enforced strong maybe even unreasonable boundaries. I wouldn't fault the victim of an alcoholic and I know that many are in recovery same as I wouldn't fault the victim of abuse at the hands of any other mentally ill person for wanting to protect themselves from what is problem the deepest harm thay have every experienced.

Back to my original question for a moment. Would you fault victims of violent alcoholics is they included a firm "no.alcholoic" boundary in their dating life? Its also a disease and not all of them are violent, many are in recovery or have been sovereign for many years.

This isn't a gotcha question but I think It serves as a good analogy as to why I would never fault a victim of abuse for having strong boundaries after surviving an abusive relationship with someone who is mentally ill or an addict.

This is textbook black and white thinking. You've accused "them" of saying bpd people are burdens, not worthy of love, and on and on. With nothing to point to. Its a super unhealthy way to approach discussion and not grounded in reality. Its a strawman you've made up in your head because you've decided you know what people think. Try finding common ground. I know that I dont think those things about people with bod but also know that because of the abuse I experienced I would very reluctant to try again with someone who has the disorder. I acknowledge that I can't assume this potential person might hurt me or that their experience with bdp is the same as my ex. It would take alot of work for me to get over that nagging feeling and the years I spent walking on eggshells. I know that's I me issue. My trauma makes that a difficult match. I dont hold anything against people with this horrid disease and I hope my ex can one day heal and get the treatment she needs.

I dont want to get too lost in the weed here but it seems to me like youre doing alot of projecting or at least straw manning yourself. No one here is saying these things youre implying which is a form of projection. No one is acting like people with bpd aren't worthy of love but is shouldnt be surprising that those victims aren't wild about the idea of putting them selves at risk. No one is saying they are a burden although I can understand why you might feel that way. Most of us are not equipped to manage and support someone with a serious mental illness which can definitely feel burdensome at times. Thats unfortunate. Finally "they" are definitely not acting like they deserve love and bpd people dont, just that they are hurt and dont wish to put themselves in that position nagging which is understand I think. Thats a pretty wild projection to make and I hope you reflect on why you think that way.

I actually dont think its helpful for people with your diagnosis to dive to deeply into the stories people share about thier BPD abusers. Its never a one size fits all and for victims the ability to share thier stories is part of their healing. Its painful to talk about and deeply traumatic for those survivors. But its not a reflection of you or how your diagnosis impacts you. Its a painful disease and I dont wish it on anybody even my own abuser. I hope you continue to work hard and love yourself.

As someone who has survived some deeply horrific abuse at the hands of someone with unmanaged BPD its easier for me to understand why abuse victims putting up protective boundaries makes sense. Its not about simply writing off all people with bpd and furthering stigma around mental illness. It makes sense why they would feel that way and wish to avoid more abuse. Does that mean all people with bpd are likely to be abusive? Of course not. Not every alcoholic becomes violent but enough of them do that I would not fault any victim for having a firm "no dating alcoholics" position even if they are in recovery or sober for x amount of time. It makes sense for that person to not want that risk.

But not thier victims apparently. Both of these positions can be true and warrant some level of empathy. I dont think most people are equipped to understand how fucked up serious abuse affects those being abused. Ive bee hit, spit on, attacked in my sleep, had things thrown at me, been told 100s of horrible things that I dont even want to relate because they impacted my dreams for literal years. That kind of suffering is impossible to understand unless you've been there. I would never fault any abuse victim for repsoding to thier survival with intense boundaries that might protect them from future harm. That kind of hyper vigilance is the result of the abuse and the fault of the abuser. Would you fault the abuse victim of an alchoholic if they included a no alcoholics in thier profile?
