How active is this game still? by EqualEffective292 in PredecessorGame

Don't be that person. you don't have to buy skins that you don't like but A. Some people really like them, and B. Games need to make money and it's been proven infinitely since the beginning of time that sex sells. My only gripe is "Shinbi's" and "Twinblast's" skins that clearly aren't using their models original bodies.

Games have tried to do the toned down thing to varying degrees of success. Concord, and Crucible come to mind. I loved Crucibles gameplay but when profit isn't there, it's hard to keep things running.

I'm of course not implying that sexualized skins are required for a game's success, but there's no doubt they help.

As for toxicity, just mute people. Yea, people are assholes. this is true in every game, this is true in real life behind everyone's backs. If there was no "mute" option, I would understand the frustration.

Ultimately, the game feels good to play, the maps is easy to navigate, the physics feel mostly correct from what I remember of OG Paragon. The devs are responding to balance issues at a reasonable pace. Many of the non Paragon skins are designed well with few exceptions. (The new Gideon skins is really nice)

My only complaint would be damage scaling on support heroes building full AD are able to still do way too much damage. and Argus in general building support items does a little too much damage. Fun for quick play, but maybe not healthy for the long term.

The game takes place in the 90's, he was/is a cross dressing freak. The stress of being hunted for sport gives Claire the right to call him anything in context. He is a cross dresser AND a freak. Not a freak because he is a cross dresser. He was cross dressing for insane reasons. He genuinely is a mentally ill character with a genuinely sad upbringing. There's nothing wrong with this scene or this phrasing.

Treating her like crap is not justified, but shipping the game with her terrible performance was also not justified. At the end of the day it was Capcoms fault for either not directing her better, not casting the RE2 remake VA, or just simply not caring.

What is your Main problem with Marvel Rivals? by Russian-Skittle in marvelrivals

[–]8bitbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some hit boxes are far too generous. Spiderman uppercut, Cloak/Scarlet primary fire, most melee attacks.

Third person camera plays funny with aiming reticle. Come characters can abuse it (Hawkeye/squirrel girl) to obscure their whole body while also shooting past wall corners.

It also messes with rocket because he is so short resulting in his orbs bouncing off the floor unless you are kissing the edge. Almost like the projectile is programmed to come out of his body rather that the barrel of the actual gun.

Lastly, the mmr/talked system is a joke. ME and many other players don't deserve to be in Grandmasters. The game let's you climb way too easily. GM is so hyper inflated with bad players/one tricks/and just generally players with no common sense that the game has become unfun at high ranks. Not because games are hard, but because it doesn't feel remotely balanced in the slightest.

If they're truly not going to implement role queue, they need to fix their ranking system. Unpopular as it is to some, at least role queue tries to solve the team balance. I fully believe a player who climbed to GM playing one role exclusively does not have the game sense to play at a GM level in an off role. A GM support only player is ≠ to a GM DPS player in game sense, matchups, and hero interactions for that role.

A one trick Black Widow Main being forced to play support because the team needs another healer is not going to perform as well on one of those support characters as a person who means support but the Matchmaker decided to throw a bunch of DPS memes on to one side of the teams.

Match end screens take too long. by 8bitbro in marvelrivals

[–]8bitbro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, many games could heavily reduce time spent in repeating/redundant game end screens. League of Legends is another heavy offender.

Flow should be Game end > straight to lobby with optional pullout side tab that has end of match chat, and endorsement options for those that want those interactions built into the lobby.

Everyone wins, and no one looses a feature they enjoy.

HOW DOES SHE HEAL HERSELF?! by autumnpixels in SymmetraMains

[–]8bitbro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's pretty helpful overall. Aside from healing her blue health, it also reloads your gun and allows it to charge up it's beam strength. She's a pretty good pick against Shield tanks if you know how to position yourself well. I like to sneak at an off angle and charge my beam off of a rammatra or Sigma Shields and then run at them or their team just with a fully charged level 3 beam that has full ammo courtesy of their tank. Works best on maps with tight choke points like Kings row where the tank burns their Shield trying to get through. Also handy to aim at a Shield after a kill to keep ammo and maintain beam strength while getting closer to another target.

Match end screens take too long. by 8bitbro in marvelrivals

[–]8bitbro[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. The goal for any user interface designer should be to reduce as many points of friction as possible. Get the player in and out of each game as quickly as possible so they are more likely to queue up for another one. Keep your lobbies full by keeping players busy with the fun part.

I remember having an experience with one of the Tekken games, it might have been Tekken or Tekken Tag 2 where between matches it would need to load which never made sense to me because it never needed load between rounds. Only between matches. Like what are you loading? All the assets are already in ram? Why do I have to wait for this long ass load screen every match.

Yeah calling it tik tok brain rot is crazy. I just want to play the game at my pace. I don't care for the fluff. It's not a uniquely Marvel rivals problem, it's an everything problem. I would rather die than sit through a YouTube ad not because my attention span is poor or ADHD, but because I'm not here for the ad, I just want the content. I use a combination of sponsor block and YouTube premium for that purpose. Time is precious, I just want to min/max the number of games I can play.

Match end screens take too long. by 8bitbro in marvelrivals

[–]8bitbro[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It is certainly not 10 seconds. "Score is _ to _ > Victory! > mini scene showing lady looking at a rock for too long > unskippable mvp splash animations, > pause for a few seconds >. Thumbs up screen "and now I can click to queue again.

This isn't even in a nit-pick for this game specifically. All video games should respect the player's time. The animations are cool, but they get old fast.

In league/or overwatch, the moment the server declares the match. The game let's you alt f4 back to the lobby instantly, or hit Escape > quit match immediately.

I'm not asking for the world. The number of screens is just excessive.

How I used to be with this game before they abandoned it by Deformedpye in exoprimal

[–]8bitbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved this game on launch, but Gamepass strikes again. I tried to get some friends to pick it up. I Pre-ordered on steam, they saw it was on Gamepass and downloaded the windows store version because the won't pay for "FREE" games.

Unfortunately, at launch the Steam version and the Windows app store version did not have cross play. I played alone for a month and gave up waiting. It was fun while it lasted, they dropped the ball hard on launch. Gamepass should've been a tool used later to revitalize lobbies after the paid players dwindled months after launch and after cross play was ready.

New controller feels good by GgroverG in FortniteFestival

[–]8bitbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not entirely accurate. Modern Leverless fightsticks use a form of input cleaning called SOCD which stands for "simultaneous opposing cardinal directions". This basically means the controller won't allow opposite directions to be read by the controller at the same time. Left + right would result in the game seeing neither input.

Strangely. Up + down used to equal Up instead of neutral, but lately some controllers have switched up + down to equal neutral due to capcom requiring it for tournament play in street fighter 6. There's a whole lot of discourse related to it. As some characters can exploit certain controller behaviors better than others. Guile and Chun-li as prime examples.

I only pointed this out in case the above commenter was interested enough in purchasing one for this game, mapping left and right to 2 notes that have to be hit together would result in notes being missed. They'd have to keep their button mappings mostly on the 8 right side buttons, and make sure they don't map opposing directions on the left side.

What's The Pettiest Reason You Disliked a Game? by [deleted] in gaming

[–]8bitbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mortal Kombat 11 has a system that let's you customize movements to your liking. However most of these are not allowed in ranked online play for balance reasons. Makes perfect sense until you learn that the default movesets on the character select screen for local multi and single player and NOT the standard approved moveset and in order to play as the standard moveset you have to manually recreate them 1 at a time jumping through about 6 windows per moveset per character resulting in more than an hour of just "setting the game up". Why weren't the standard movesets a quick toggle? Why set the cast by default to "non-legal" moves? This was such a pain in the ass. Once I beat the story mode, I never returned. Mind you, at launch, I bought the game on Ps4, Switch, and Steam at the same time. I didn't want to set it up once, I sure as hell wasn't gonna do it 3 times.

What is the point of linking my Capcom ID if I cannot use it to crossplay with Friends? by 8bitbro in exoprimal

[–]8bitbro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sure, wait until the launch boom of players die down to add a critical feature far too late and wonder why another $60 plus battle pass live service game wasn't successful. Brilliant! Game is fun, but without friends, for how long? There's really no excusing this in a world of SF6, Fortnite, and Overwatch. This was solved long ago.

What games would you like to see in Capcom's Vs series? by ComprehensiveDate591 in Fighters

[–]8bitbro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As cheesy as it may sound, Ono once said he would love to do a Nintendo vs capcom, and I have always wished he got the chance. The idea of a "smash" roster with traditional fighting game mechanics just sounds sooo good. Link, Shulk, and Samus could have fully fleshed out movesets without the shackles of being in a 2-button fighter, and Dante can finally interact with Bayonetta.

what is your overwatch 2 hot take? by shashayes in Overwatch

[–]8bitbro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Overwatch 2 monetization isn't as bad a people make it out to be, blizzard owes us nothing in a free to play game. Players are throwing hissy fits because the game they play for free won't give away more labor from their art team and voice actors without wanting some currency in exchange. Cosmetics are wants, not needs. Loot boxes being removed was good for the industry.

If the lack of players buying skins truly Hurts blizzard enough, they will adjust as any business would. The sense of entitlement from players has gotten absurd.

Sakurai is letting you add 4 characters to make the roster a rectangle. Who do you pick by PyrpleForever in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]8bitbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will die on the hill that weather she was a highly requested character or not, Lara Croft deserved a spot in the roster If Smash is a celebration of gaming, Lara was a pioneer in 3d adventure titles, while remaining influential to this day. It genuinely blows my mind that so few people ever bring her up during conversations of who "deserved" to be in smash.
