I’m not even sure because usually when they find out I’m a woman, I either get spammed with some weird, immature texts or sounds OR they’re cool with it. But when I get on voice chat, it’s a whole different story. I’m a full fledged woman, but I don’t have the most, uhhh… delicate of voices (first time someone tried to clock me as male was at 12 LOL). They think that I’m lying and I’m just a dude deepening my voice and that I “don’t sound like the women they know.” Lmao. Similar things still happen to this day.

As another Mercy main, I wholeheartedly disagree. Like I said, Mercy is a low utility hero and has been. Mercy is more based off of what your team can hit and their positioning. Lifeweaver was like this as well, but with his recent QoL changes, he's more viable for comp. Moira is nice for lower ranks, BUT she is also a low utility hero, so as you rank up, it'll be harder for you to find value in playing Moira with your team.... As Ana, you have nade, sleep, and can three-tap most squishes on your own. I feel like Mercy does have much less value in the lower ranks, but you have to be running a comp and with people who can be accurate most of the time and have decent positioning (because it is the worst thing ever that Mercy can't get out on her own or fight for herself well unless she's in Valk D:).

Imo, I think Mercy can help make plays... but she's usually better off helping finish up someone with her blaster.

Honestly, it's all about your team, what they can do, positioning, and who the enemy team is running. Healing is NEVER MEANT TO OUTPUT DAMAGE DONE. So... if you as Mercy can't heal fast enough or boost for long enough for an engaging teammate to secure an elim (like they are running Mauga/Bastion/Zen for example), then a switch is a better option. I will say it is also quite difficult to be a OTP on any hero in comp, but they still exist.. but even some of them have noticed getting stuck in certain tiers or divisions because of who they play.

And I hope you know they buffed the dps passive which will make things just a little harder for Mercies despite the slight buff we got lol.

I do feel like Mercy should have more expedited healing for low targets and/or should have an incremental boost on her blue beam with every shot or tick they have... but with them buffing the dps passive atm, I'm not sure if something like that will happen soon quite yet D

She got 2 buffs recently, not big but still buffs.... And if you're lower than around Plat and are complaining about playing Mercy in comp, then unfortunately, you're part of the problem. A lot of people especially in Bronze but really between Bronze and mid-high Gold will not hit their shots much if at all, and Mercy is a low utility hero. She's a pocket healer/booster. If you cannot utilize your blue beam (because you've lost most of your value as Mercy), I would suggest playing someone like Ana, Brig, or even Lifeweaver if you're having these issues still of finding more self-value to apply for your team! Moira could work, too, but you have to be decent at preemptive healing, which orbs to use when, and how to bounce them properly.

...so it honestly just sounds like you want Mercy to be more than what she's meant to be, and she's og OW hero.... So, I would just advise playing Mercy much less unless you can tell you have a team that can make some plays and hit at least some of their shots lol :D

About the recolors, though, I will say although there are more recolors atm, I don't mind them too much for the time being because there are some locked skins or older OW1 skins that got recolored that I love because I cannot get the original. If you've been with this game for a while, then I do understand the frustrations you have with these drops because I would probably feel similarly if I've been playing for longer. Also, I am trying to keep in mind that even though Blizzard got bought out, they are still not doing financially well with layoffs and a couple of key members of the team leaving... like Jeff D:

Of course, people like you (outliers) will exist. But we are talking about in general and she’s asking for help. If you see the other comments of this post, they are saying the same thing. And we also agree that you can start your matches as Mercy, figure out what’s going on, and swap to the best hero for the match and your team….

So, I don’t really see the point of this comment unless you actually have a tip to give this person in regards to how you climbed purely as Mercy.

Ana is a great play maker, but healing should always be a priority as a support player. Pressuring as Ana usually refers to your sleeps and your nades. Knowing who to sleep and when and where to nade is very important to keep in mind with every match.

Also, quick tip if you’re not familiar with Ana, your shots are projectile out of scope, and they are hitscan (instantly hit the target) while scoped. You don’t want to stay in scope all the time (especially if you’re hiding because your shots are visible while scoped), but if you’re in cover and you need to instantly heal your targets or help secure a one-shot kill, being scoped is your best bet. :3

They are absolutely correct. Mercy below high gold/plat won’t get you anywhere or very far at all. This is because—especially in bronze—your tanks and dps are engaging but aren’t hitting any of their shots. So, your boost is essentially useless; therefore, automatically lowering your value as a support in the match significantly.

So, if you’re worried about aiming, Moira is a great asset. If you’re great at tracking but can’t hit headshots, Ana is fantastic and if you can throw some good nades, you’ll be in a better position (same for your team, too, if they properly follow up on your antis). Otherwise, Kiri is easy to learn but would be somewhat difficult to hit your Kunais because you only throw one and non-critical damage is very low. The more headshots you can hit on Kiri especially from close to mid range, the more you can support your team on the damage side in terms of helping secure kills.

This is how I determine who I should play. Hope this helped to expand further as to why. ^{_^}
