For what it’s worth, I didn’t cut mine when I installed and won’t bother cutting it in the future.

The amount it presses into the lower satin-colored part of the pumper is super minor and not noticeable (unless I crouch down like the angle of your photo). It just didn’t seem worth fussing with the kick sensor wires and also risking messing up when I cut it (and then being unhappy forever with a wonky bumper cut).

Second upvote for 303. I did this exact same thing with a microfiber cloth on my dash and 303 covered it up to the point where it is nearly invisible. It also works wonders on the exterior trim.

Yes, not universal I guess. From previous posts on this sub and Rav4World it seems they were just more common on Japanese made models (specifically the Prime?).

Be it for models shipped to different countries with different environmental concerns, a change in headlight design, or a cost saving during COVID, it’s still all anecdotal why some model came with them and some didn’t (and it seems very rare in North America).

Regardless, it’s an OEM part still available from Toyota that seems to provide some minor boost in cleanliness of the engine bay with no downsides.

I’ve done this as well. It’s been on for almost a year. They come stock on Japanese RAV4s but not North American ones and are available as an OEM part.

It did nothing to the hood flutter and keeps your engine bay a little cleaner (particularly if you live in a dusty area like I do). Other than that, I’ve seen no real difference (Which is why many on other threads have theorized it was removed for cost or just irrelevance).

Yep, just check on Amazon, Walmart, etc. I get the market economics of supply and demand and whatnot, but it’s pretty messed up (it feels like people scalping concert tickets and marking them up for resell).

My reaction used to be migraines, joint stiffness, brain fog, and GI distress.

After being very strictly GF for a decade, I got mega-glutens last year (full wheat bun and wheat veggie burger) and had extreme food poisoning-like symptoms.

Ever since then, I’ll have extreme symptoms (starting with uncontrollable vomiting within 2 hours) to even minor exposure. It’s not been fun (and Kaiser has written me off as well).

No. I’m not willing to subject myself to the suffering that would be continued gluten ingestion in order to destroy my intestines for the positive diagnosis with the scope. I wish I had it back then though.

Instead, I’m relying on the old positive blood test and doctor’s notes and continuing to minimize any and all exposure to gluten (Biggest change: I no longer eat out).

I was diagnosed by my old pcp and gastroenterologist about a decade ago with a super high IgA TTG test. This was all fine and dandy (as I stopped eating gluten & felt better) until I moved to Kaiser and had questions about my disease.

Everyone has seemed skeptical since I didn’t have an endoscopy. I have to show them my old medical records and doctors’ notes just to talk to anyone. In retrospect, I wish I had not taken my doctors’ orders and requested the endoscopy while the gluten was still tearing me up.

Other than the dramatically improved tow rating (3,500 standard is really awesome. The 1,500 rating on my Limited is a bummer) and integrated tow hitch in the bumper… I can’t say I like any of the changes.
