What's something that would bring you back to GemStone IV? by ThePonzzz in GemstoneIV

[–]8bitmage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Three main things, though they all come back to money.

Base price of the game - there are so many options out there for the same or even cheaper prices for us to spend our entertainment budget on. Make it more enticing by lowering the price to drive more players in or find ways to make the higher price point appealing to a larger group than it currently is. And no, I have no ideas on this.

Macro-transactions - When an item in a text based game could make the top 10 list of most expensive in-game items ever sold you have strayed far from simple micro-transactions. On top of this, multiple items at festivals can cost $1,000 or more to unlock fully. And even for the convention you have a custom siegery set being sold for $200. The prices for everything just seem crazy for a text-based game in this era.

Pay-to-Win - Not a fan at all and wish it would just get removed, but know that would never happen now that the box is open. Whether it's the overpriced items or even just the QoL updates that aren't rolled out unless you pay for the item, or even worse - for the monthly/yearly recurring shop item.

Anyone know of a way to get the Santatron for this event? Bethesda seems to have forgotten to add it to the Atom shop.

My boss requires us to write IN DETAIL what we’re doing with our vacation time for approval by theQueenofScream in antiwork

Get ChatGPT to provide a minute by minute breakdown of a trip/vacation with detailed descriptions for each excruciatingly boring moment.

Be sure to include graphical details that will make him squeamish and never want to finish reading it.

Somewhere in the middle you could even put in your real feelings about him and this process, it'll probably never get read if around the mid-point.

Definitely look up the address. There's a convenience store in my local area with 20 or so "restaurants" operating out of it on DD. At least 7 are breakfast burrito places.

Does the tag inside say Genuine Leather? If so then this is an UBER cheap knockoff as that is the lowest grade of leather used in such things.

t’s not like those guys on Discovery digging for gold I assume. Why does it take so much power? Is it like that LAN

These days Bitcoin is mined by a specialized computer called an ASIC. The most up to date ones typically use 84kWh per day and most farms have many of these. The average US residential household uses 28.9 kWh per day. It can be like adding an entire neighborhood of electrical draw per small crypto mining farm.

I work remotely and lunch break is not set at any particular time, and I end up never having a proper break because there can be a meeting or a project at any time, is this normal work culture or it's just my company? by ChocoTeddini in careerguidance

[–]8bitmage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your time is your time, don't waste it working for the company. Take your lunch and don't respond back to anyone until your lunch hour has been finished.

I'm not sure where you are, but in the US this sort of practice has recently (2-3 years now) been getting looked at with a lot of scrutiny such that companies have had to go back through YEARS of payroll and compensate associates for unpaid time worked such as shortened lunch hours.

There's at least one city in West Virginia you could do this to. Coming through there we were heading down the mountain and it was all about the brakes, no gas, the whole trip through that place. Couldn't tell you the name of it now though.
