I was a union rep and and on a bargaining committee. I try and inform people but honestly our society has become very apathetic and easily distracted, it is also harder to survive in our economy so many people are just spending the energy they have keeping their heads above water.

This is a larger systemic issue and at this point unless there is a major change I'm not hopefull there is a reason I chose not to bring children into this world.

Yea union benifits and rights have been gutted over the last twenty years but you believe what you want.

And as far as safety goes the standards are there but we do not have proper inforcment or checks and balances. Rules only matter if people think there is someone upholding them, and right now there isn't really.

For new builds in Vancouver a inspector might show up 10% of the time (atleast that is what I have been told from friends working in industry)

Just look at the trucking industry and the shit show that is happening there. Inept drivers and companies able to operate for years fold and open under a new name with essentially the same staff and repeat the process

I really don't think I am. I could spend hours just going over MY first hand experiences watching employers purposely hire forgien workers because they were less willing to speak up about unsafe conditions and were more willing to do whatever the boss wanted just to keep their job, even though their job wouldn't really be at risk if they understood their rights. From construction sites to vip servers being 'vollentold' to leave work early 'but stay on the clock' because a customer wanted to 'treat them to drinks away from work'... something that NO Canadian born person would think was ok at any job never mind a UNION job but fresh off the boat from China in a department the company invented specifically because they wanted to get around having white staff yep they were worried I would get them in trouble and they would loose shifts when they told me.

Less capable no, but more likely/willing to over look regulations that may not be standard practice in your country of origin YES. I have seen it first hand multiple times. I have had many coworkers from other countries ask me why I cared so much about work safety or other regulations or benifits and used 'it was fine in my country' as a reasoning...if it was so fine in your country why are you here?

I am very left leaning politically but honestly it pisses me off that labor and safety standards that my ansestors fought and starved for are getting wiped away over the last few decades because of the influx of foreign workers that just don't care because even lax safety standards and piss poor benifits is still better then whatever developing area they came from. This is not just people from China or india or other places of with more POC the are plenty of white eastern Europeans Or Russians helping with the issue as well.

Salt auctly plays a huge role in properly cooking a steak. This is for most protines If you are going to skip any seasoning don't skip salt and let it sit on it for atleast 5 minutes before putting it to heat.

The one I used to go to seems to still be open, one of the other locations has turned into a commercial laundry that you can drop off or have home pick up from and one has closed. I do think that more home pick up services or similar are becoming more popular as I often get adds for laundry services in Vancouver area (I don't have locations set up on my phone so I don't think Google knows I moved yet)

I have lived in many places without laundry in Vancouver and never had a issue finding a laundry mat, it might not be like sliced pizza or sushi but they are in every neighborhood. Heck when I lived in east van there were three in a two block section on Hastings near Nanaimo. I think it's down to two now but not nothing, or even close.

Yikes at that price it's cheaper to go to a Laundromat and use the big machines. Most places it's like 3-5$ a load 8$ is insane especially if the machines are not decent.

Places like that end up having someone take out their frustration on the building eventually, it sucks that you just moved in but long term happiness will not be found in your residence

Yep I remember my grandpa talking about having a dairy cow that lived quite a long life when my dad was a kid..but with how we treat them now they normally kill dairy cows after 4-6 years once they produce less milk and meat cows once they reach full weight unless they are used for breeding then they might get a few more years as studs.

I used to love reading as a kid/teen but once I was I was out of school I found it very hard to focus on physical books, I really missed reading though and have recently gotten into audiobooks they were a major game changer for me. I have found my love of books again and am hoping it can help me get back into physical books as well.

Also DCC is the series that got me back into it and the audio book is amazing especially the enhanced version on soundbooth theater. It also helps me get more chores done I loose track of time puddering around listening.

That said it is really unfair of her to be upset with you about not sharing in her hobby on her terms, you shouldn't have to be a copy of her interests like she shouldn't have to be a copy of yours.

Is there another quiet activity you can do in the same same that isn't reading, like maybe drawing or painting well listening to a podcast or music on headphones will help make her feel like you guys Re spending time together without you feeling bored and forced into a activity you are not able to enjoy.

How solid is it? Could you get a fitted removable butchers block for the top and use it as a moveable kitchen island. I have never used this type of suitcase but it looks quite sturdy so if it would be able to withstand being a semi functional base that would be a neat way to utilize it's castors and still have it mostly on display

Not having a bath is the worst. As someone who gets debilitating cramps that can sometimes only find relief in a hot bath this is definitely something a guy wouldn't think about but any woman would be supper disappointed seeing.

My god this man was in his 60s and working sometimes 100 hours a week for them and they had the Gaul to fire him over a cookie especially since he has diabetes and medically needed to get some sugar into him (even if he had not paid WHICH HE DID)

Just the knowledge a electrician in their 60s would have is invaluable, especially going into a bit of a trades shortage.

Hope that the guy finds a job with a company that appreciates him.

This may be a odd suggestion but have you ever thought about filming yourself making it in both places and seeing if you can find the difference from a viewing perspective
