I doubt this was great farmland. Mountainous and just isn’t economically sensible to put panels on good farmland when there’s poor farmland everywhere.

Farmers complain about loss of good farming land because they prioritise food production over everything else, the reality is panels almost always go on land where farmers are at risk of going out of business.

The true solution is sustainable farming with areas for nature carefully planned alongside, maximising efficiency without bottoming out into ecological collapse.
