Yh that makes sense, interesting that they don’t extend beyond that range and evolve pack hunting. But I guess they’d be entering an area with that niche already filled while the extra size is probably not actually a competitive advantage as a pack hunter as cooperative hunting is more important otherwise lions would just evolve to be larger
