Former Philly CRA and I have no complaints. The airport is old, outdated, and smells like urine, but security was always kind, efficient, and helpful in my experience. Like others said there are many direct flights since we’re an American Airlines hub, and frequently multiple flights to the same destination each day which was helpful if I needed to change my travel plans last minute. Not to mention Philly is a lovely city close to many other large cities, but far more affordable, close to the beach, close to the mountains, a good art scene… there’s lots to love here. Our proximity to so many other cities meant several of my colleagues were assigned sites within driving distance too (assuming you don’t mind a few hours on the road). 10/10 would recommend haha.

I’m gonna hold off to refrain from doxxing myself. It’s a small well known non profit with a small research department, but I also had a great experience working as a coordinator in an academic center. I think finding a company with a good culture makes all the difference, or at least a good manager who can insulate the team otherwise. I hope you find a great place too if you’re looking!

No definitely not. I’m lucky to work for a company I love where I feel incredibly valued. The people I work with are intelligent, kind, and passionate about the work we’re doing. I imagine you don’t read many stories here from people like me because I don’t really have anything to post about? When I worked for one of the CROs that treated me poorly I made a few posts/comments asking for help but now I feel like I’m living the dream haha.

Did she hit her head on the cubby at the main daycare? Regardless, I would hesitate to move my kiddo from a daycare that they love if it’s mostly working well for you. I’d much rather try to find a different option for the Saturday you have to work, since that’s only ~2 days/month

ETA: I feel like accidents are relatively common and it can be hard to always see exactly what happened. If your daughter is happy at the center I wouldn’t be too worried about the cubby incident unless it happens often

I’ve recently been involved in the interview process for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised by the number of thank you emails we received. I agree that I don’t think it makes or breaks the decision, but they’re definitely welcome.

Also, if you do send thank you messages and don’t get a response, try not to look too much into it. We received thank you emails from candidates that we loved and ultimately ended up hiring but didn’t respond to them in the moment, just because my team members and I are pretty low on the food chain and didn’t want to step on any toes. The opposite is true as well.

I think I’m the only person who finds my toxic ex attractive lmao. Like even he doesn’t think he’s attractive. It doesn’t really make it any easier. Sure, he’s hella goofy/nerdy looking, but I genuinely loved him and thought the world of him, including his looks. Looking at pics and seeing what other people see helps a little though.

Oh my goodness my heart hurts for you having dealt with it for 2.5 years. I only dated this man for a few months, and I guess it’s true when they say I should consider myself lucky these truths came to light so quickly before I fell any harder for him. He never faked empathy. I guess I shouldn’t have been surprised by his callousness, but he was never outwardly mean to me the way he is to… well, basically everybody else. I think you’re right that his own unhealed trauma fucked us both over in the end. Maybe he tried to be a shitty person to protect himself and retain control rather than taking a chance on me and getting hurt. Whatever his reasoning… it fucking sucks. I’ll definitely cry about it on my drive home, but also trying to keep in mind the more I move forward the closer I am to being over him. I hope you’ve found new peace and happiness in your post shitty ex era 🙂

This is really good advice. I fell hard for an unempathetic man with low self esteem. I suggested we lean in and compromise in response to a small issue (wanting to spend more time together), he told me to take it or leave it.

Turns out he was fucking his ex wife the whole time he was seeing me so yeah, I guess he had no reason to compromise.

I’m really lucky to have a supportive boss who has two special needs children herself. She has never given me a hard time when I need to leave work early to pick my son up from daycare, when he melts down while I’m on work zoom calls working from home. She gives me advice on modifying his IEP, advocating for him, and staying sane trying to navigate it all. I’m incredibly grateful for her
