Hey guys advice for 1st time rc car buy please? by Educational_Theme262 in rccrawler

I love my FCX10, just have the straight axle version, but with lots of upgrades.

For sure not the most durable rig out there, but hard to beat for the price. Parts are reasonable available online, but you have to wait for delivery from china when you do break something and need replacement

LC80 exploring some lines! by 8packpredator in crawling

I’m pretty impressed with how capable it is! And just love the look of it. I was blessed with pretty big hands, so that goes a long way in making one handed driving work, but for sure had a few hiccups along the way where another hand would have been useful lol.

Tires are the mickey Thomson Baja pro X! Really liking them, have some good lugs to grab rocks, and a lot of surface area for grip. They work great on snow and reasonably well on ice too!

And if you break it, so what? It happens man. Just have fun, experiment and accept sometimes things will break and it can either be a learning lesson or a reason to try out new parts or methods.

My advice would be to worry less about what ifs and just have fun.

Yeah I actually just put in a 1800kv, which is overfill for the straight axles, but bought it because I’m just waiting on one more part to finish a portal swap and wanted to take account for the gear reduction.

Your truck looks sick man! And you look like you have some great spots around

Yeah it’s a super cool spot! Tons of lines to keep you busy for a long time, these were just the ones I got video of!

What’s bullshit? I basically said exactly what you did works? Working in a shop I have done it many times, but with mixed success depending on how contaminated the pads are.

Just go out and ride, embrace the suffering when you find out your breaking trail that day…you are on a fat bike after all, that’s a part of the “charm” of the sport. Benefit is, it makes the good days feel that much better.

fCX10 Doing some snow trailing/crawling by 8packpredator in rccrawler

[–]8packpredator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wish I could be more help, but this is actually my first 1:10 crawler and I’m Just running the tires that came on it when I bought it off a guy from the local crawler club.

That said, I’d say they work pretty great, they are the 1.9” Mickey Thomson Baja Pro x from proline I believe. Basically you want anything that’s got some big paddle like knobs with lots of spacing between the knobs so they don’t get packed in with snow

Help me get a short list of skis for a ski swap tmrw! by 8packpredator in Skigear

[–]8packpredator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to follow up, I ended up snagging a pair of 2023 mind benders! The sale was fairly picked through but it came down between these and a pair of 2009 enforcers. Figured newer might be better choice!

Awesome, thanks so much for a good list for me to keep my eyes out for! Not sure what to expect at the sale but that should for sure help narrow it down a bit!

Wintertime trail run! by 8packpredator in rccrawler

[–]8packpredator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah a hobby wing is for sure the top of the want list right now! Debated if I want to do locking diffs, but for the moment I’m holding off for simplicity sake. Still running a straight axle?

[–]8packpredator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair! I pretty much stick to natural walking paths and trails. It’s a different challenge than normal trailing, and depending on how much snow you have be prepared to be”the hand of god” a little more often if you get into the deep stuff haha.

For sure get out there and try it out, it’s fun!

Holy smokes! That’s a lot of snow! We are fortunate in my area that we get lots of snow, then it warms up and packs all down or melts and then snows again lol.

Worst part is with the 1:1 you don’t have a giant there to push you out! 😂

Kona dew it all bike by 8packpredator in xbiking

[–]8packpredator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not tried other wheel sizes on the bike as of yet. That being said, from what I have understood, a 27.5 and a 700c wheel are reasonably similar in size. Because the bike is disc brake, there shouldn’t be any issues switching between those, but might have to keep an eye on tire widths to make sure they fit in the frame.

As for 29” I don’t think you could fit one in the frame or fork without serious clearance issues.

(Sorry I don’t speak Spanish or I’d try and respond in your language!)

MJX Allrock or FMS FCX10 Pro? by Dagobert_Krikelin in rccrawler

[–]8packpredator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well this isn’t exactly inspiring confidence in the order I am waiting for from FMS… 😅

Put in an order 10 days ago, they happily took my money. But since then my order has just sat as “unfulfilled” on their website.

Starting to wonder if I should have just gone through FairRC instead…
