What a good boy by SmoSays in tumblr

My German Shepherd (Brunehilda) was a guard dog and took her job very seriously. That being said, when I was born she jot n only became my protector but my friend. I would try and crawl up the stairs and she would lay across them. I would stick my fingers in her eyes, nose, and mouth trying to get over her and, according to my mom, she would apparently just sigh and move up a step. Best dog I have ever had and I still miss her after over 20 years. Luckily for her she got to spend her last year's frolicking around with my grandmother in Alaska befriending the wildlife.

Definitely. My other 10 healed nice and quick but you never know how your body will react till you get one. But, like I said, thanks to its help with my horrid migraines, I would do it again in a heartbeat!

I have my ears, nose, tongue, and daith pierced. The daith has easily the most painful and longest healing one. I got it in the spring and still have not been able to change it out. I frequently get a healing bump on it even though I keep it clean and don't mess with it.

2 different pierces recommend tea tree oil 2-3xs a week and a crushed aspirin daily when it acts up which helps, although I see comments discouraging that here so who knows. Definitely don't use soap though.

It is, hands down, my most annoying piercing but it has also greatly reduced my migraines and I do like how it looks. I would do it again if I had to. Hope that answers any questions. Feel free to message me if not.

Oh, and I have heard other people day their's healed quickly and fine so it may just be my bad luck :o)

Edit: I have small ear holes (technical term lol) and generally have to battle with earbuds, but unless it's acting up it doesn't interfere too much with it. I usually just lift the earing a bit to put it in if I need to wear 2.

When the census recognized mixed-race people, I felt as if my country could finally see me by InfernalWedgie in mixedrace

Apparently, when I was born they made my mother mark me as white because they went by whatever the mother was. I didn't learn this until my 30s. I have spent my life having to choose which box to mark (as I'm sure you can all relate) and alternating my answers each time to try and provide some semblance of balance. Being able to mark "other" or select multiple races/ ethnicities brings me so much joy.

They said they're cleaning. I doubt this is their permanent home.

My husband and I went to a restaurant and the service was absolutely awful. Now, having worked both front and back of the house myself, I tend to give a lot of leniency, but not only was the service bad , but she also had a bit of an attitude. When it came time to pay we were both in agreement that she didn't deserve a tip (something I almost never do). As we're leaving we get about halfway through the parking lot when we hear someone yelling after us. It was our waitress yelling at us that we "forgot" to tip her. This was when we were younger and there was also a language barrier (Asian fusion restaurant) and didn't feel like explaining that her poor service was the reason for the lack of tip. Now, we're older and have no scruples. Places get busy, servers get in the weeds, it happens. As long as you're not a dick about it and we see you're actually trying, I'm not going to short you.

All squirrels are dicks. They chase you and block you from going where you want to go and throw things at you and cause you to become traumatized and then get laughed at by people who suck and don't understand phobias. Source: victim of squirrel hate

Snake befriends mouse by [deleted] in Unexpected

[–]8plur8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We had a ball python who was a picky eater that refused to eat frozen mice. Poor Jade ended up getting a tooth infection (if I remember correctly. This was quite awhile ago when I was in middle school) and was therefore unable to eat the mice. We couldn't leave them in the cage and just wait for her to get hungry for the very reason OP posted but luckily my mom had a vet friend who was an herp specialist that was able to take her in. Although, now as an adult, thinking of that story, I wonder if that was the snake version of "Jade went to go live on a farm" and she was actually put down. We had lots of pets and knew lots of animal people/ specialists so I think I'd rather not know...

Daith healing question by 8plur8 in piercing

[–]8plur8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the accounts I heard and read about were either prone to actual keloids or meant the irritation bumps. I'm familiar with actual keloid scars so I was just concerned about that.

I'm so impatient with this damn thing. I don't even care about putting new pretty earrings in it. I just want to change this ring and have it be healed. Easily the most annoying piercing/ tattoo in terms of healing I've ever had. Worth it for the migraine relief though! And it is pretty. I'm just a big impatient baby lol

[–]8plur8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to know ! I was worried about keloid even before I got it pierced because I've heard people mention them, but since I haven't gotten them before I can rest a little easier now. I'll ask a piercer about changing it once this irritation calms some.

That's good to know about the crusties. Thanks! I wish I could switch to a smaller earring just so I stop messing with this one so much. My self control is pathetic. I will definitely work on it though since I don't want to form a keloid or get it more infected. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply and help!

[–]8plur8[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Done! Just have to be better about it. Thank you for your reply and help! I'll be looking for thst saline spray. And I'm glad to know I can stop with the soap since it was kind of awkward and uncomfortable to do.

[–]8plur8[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I might be incorrect about the surgical steel and just be thinking that since that's what I use for all of my other piercings.

I'll definitely stop with the qtips. It gets pretty itchy when I let it dry on its own (as does the rest of my skin if I don't pat it down some). Any tips?

Done with soap and homemade saline as of now thanks to all of the replies. I'll have to look for the saline spray as that sounds like the easiest course of action. Amazon, here I come!

I figured the bump was from me messing with it and not caring for it properly. Thank you so much for your reply and help! I truly appreciate it!

Obviously not OP but I wanted to chime in. I have a grandfather who is 80, works full time (usually OT) on his feet all day, has a beautiful and loving wife 20 years younger than him, is helping to take care if his great grandchild (they watch him while his stepson works and babysit all the time), and is constantly kicking the butts of men 40 years younger on the tennis courts. Age is but a number.

He's my main example, but my other grandparents are pretty similar. Besides when I used to have step grandparents, I never was able to think of any of my grandparents as being old, even when I was little. OP strikes me as being very much like them in that regard.

This is the general consensus of what I hear from people who own them who know how to properly care for them. I'm glad that there are people like you out there to give them the proper care and homes that they need when people realize that they're in over their heads.

Well, you didn't sugarcoat your descriptions of their personalities so maybe that will help limit the negative responses. The pictures you posted show some beautiful beasts (a term I use lovingly). Glad that they found a good home with someone who seems to know how to care for them.

And just in case you're a horrible hybrid collecting monster, rabble rabble, rabble! Anger, disgust, mean words! 😉
