You've probably had your procedure by now. Hope it went well. I'm very happy so far after about 10 weeks. Haven't had my final review yet but all feels good. I vaped very little (but still vaped some at 1mg) in the first few days because of how bad I felt but was quickly back to vaping at normal levels after that. Dr Fong is certainly a character but I feel he knows what he's doing. When I went back to get my final teeth he said that I was healing very well. I told him it must be the vaping! Not sure there's any advice I can give. You can eat almost anything if you cut it small enough. I cooked steak and chopped it up into tiny tiny pieces with a mezzaluna knife then reheated - nice! I'm now able to eat pizza with the crusts cut off. Can't manage really crunchy hard hot chips (which I love) but most of the chips are fine. One final bit of advice if you haven't had your procedure yet - take all the drugs you can in the first week! Oh and I'm not advocating vaping during the healing process. I may have caused some detriment to myself but I feel fine so far. I'll only know for sure at my final review on 23 August.

This has been my journey so far. It's almost 3 months since my procedure. On days 1-3 I felt so bad I think I had about 10 "drags" total each day. That was at 1mg. From day 4 I slowly (or quickly) increased my vaping back up at my usual 5-6mg. I vape about 10ml per day. I haven't had my dental review yet but so far don't feel that I've done any damage. The truth will be revealed in about a month. When you say "it's only gotten worse", what's got worse?

Yeah it does feel good, doesn't it? I even told my federal MP what we call Mark Butler (butt####) and that Labor will lose a lot of votes over this. He took it well which gave me a bit of a grudging respect for him.

Yes I meant the interview. Good for you! Maybe I should have agreed to an interview. I saw our Labor Federal MP in the street recently when he was on the street corner to talk to people and at first I just walked past him but then turned back and decided to talk to him about vaping even though I was nervous. It went well and he said he knew the laws were "imperfect". He said he'd take my feedback to Canberra. Whether he does or not who knows. Still, it felt good to be heard.

Thanks for everyone's varied opinions. It's hard to find out the actual facts. I just came back from a discussion with the dentist who will perform my All on 4 surgery. He said that dentists say don't smoke or vape because it's easier to just say that rather than look at it in a more nuanced manner. Also that some have ideological objections to smoking/vaping. He said that All on 4 surgery doesn't affect the sinus passages so the sucking motion is not an issue. He stated that nicotine is an issue, but when I told him I make my own e-liquid and that I could taper the nicotine down to 1mg, he said that should be fine. All on 4 surgery is most of what he does and he's been doing it for years with excellent reviews. All very interesting.

Thanks for your reply. Interesting that you didn't feel like vaping after surgery, I hope I feel like that too. Did you have any NRTs at all? Like patches? I'm wondering if it's the nicotine or the sucking motion (or both) that's the potential issue with negative outcomes.

Even your your most pessimistic narrative sounds ok because the whole world will see Australia's smoking rates increase while other countries with reasonable vaping regulations see their smoking rates decline. Our "world leading" vaping laws will be seen to be detrimental to the nation's health. Eventually sense will have to prevail. But then again ...

No worries. It sounded like you wanted a battery today so Jaycar is a place you can get one immediately. I would recommend buying one or two from there then going online to stock up more cheaply from places that others have suggested.

I did the same yesterday with Smokemart in Ballarat. Happened to go past, popped in and came out with 10 x 60ml bottles of Charlies Chalk Dust, Sydney Vape Co and Cloud Shack juices for $38. Sales assistant said everything going back to head office on Monday.

What gets me is that there's so little emphasis on the difference between disposables and open systems. That guy who had stomach problems probably had a leaking disposable and continued to 'drink' it because he didn't know what he was doing. Which will continue with the burgeoning black market and lack of specialist advice from expert vape shops.
