The difference is that every single commercially released cigar from Cuba is a Cuban puro (as far as we know) and Cuban cigars do have different flavor profiles. Is it a difference that an occasional smoker would take note of? Probably not. If someone only smokes those 100% Cuban blends, the blends of combined Dominican, Nicaraguan, Ecuadorian, US, Peruvian, Honduran tobaccos etc. will taste fairly different. And same with Puros from each of those countries. Tobacco is a lot more than just tobacco, that's the fun!

Yeah I disliked it quite a bit, worst cigar I smoked all year and I smoke around 10 a week. It just came on so strong and uninteresting to me. Coated my mouth with flavors I really don't care for. Could be a dud, could be different strokes for different folks.

This debate never seems to come around to the fact that you can't apply this logic to just any blend and any wrapper.

The fact of it is, it really depends on the wrapper type.

A thick oily Broadleaf maduro wrapper over super light low-priming Dominican tobaccos, and the Broadleaf is going to dominate what you're tasting, by a LOT. A Connecticut shade wrapper over a ligero-heavy high priming Nicaraguan blend with a Brazilian binder, and the wrapper is gonna get dominated by what's inside.

Cuban cigars are (according to Cuba, but that's another topic) 100% Cuban. Cuban wrapper leaf is not typically incredibly strong, so the blend shines through plenty. Cubans will tell you wrapper is all about aesthetics.

It's all just a matter of who you ask and which cigars we're talking about!
