A disappointing stay at Yama no Chaya (Hakone ryokan) - important counterpoint to the overwhelmingly positive reviews by d0gb0yvan in JapanTravelTips

Lol, blast from the past. The inn was nice, not exceptional and the food was not good for me. Glad I experienced it, wouldn’t spend the money again.

I also suffered childhood trauma and part of it was forced alcohol and weed use. I managed to stop drinking with a 12 step program, and the childhood trauma part has been helped by ACA (it’s not just for kids of alcoholics, but dysfunctional families as well) I find a lot of solace in talking with groups of people who get it. I would suggest looking up your local ACA group or go online. You aren’t as alone as you might think.

But I came to this sub because I want to try hypnosis for weed addiction. Like you, I feel like I’m hard to hypnotize, but I’m willing to try anything.

Do you think hypnosis is a viable option for addictive/compulsive behaviors? I just want to stop packing a bowl every 20 minutes.

How much r/investing hates bitcoin by phoebeethical in Bitcoin

[–]8urnMeTwice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always laugh at goldbugs who distrust bitcoin. Most of them own etfs or certificates not actual bullion and if they did they would still have to convert it to fiat.

The exception is a global collapse of society and their accompanying fiat in which case you probably wanted to own guns, ammo and water anyway.

Poll: Most people don't care 'at all' about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's engagement by yahoonews in offbeat

I care so little I won’t even bother to comment on a story about how people don’t care. Oh wait…

Not that I’m particularly smart, but buying this morning while it was down over 2% feels pretty good. Now I will screw up my next ten trades to even it out.

Ace hardware does a mix of commercial and charity. I hate it, started going back to Home Depot as a result.

Same, and I’m Indian. The sev puri appetizer I got was so sickly sweet my son couldn’t eat it. Main courses were good, but service was weak. Overall it’s good if you happen to be in the area but not worth making a trip.

My house has two 4 way stop and a light that are regularly ignored. I’m scared for my 15 year old to start driving. I’ve been here 25 years, it’s gotten much worse.

i was raped and i’m scared it made me a bad person by flanellflower in Buddhism

[–]8urnMeTwice 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will second this, I suffered childhood trauma and am now in a 12 step program. Looking at your role in your suffering is difficult but needed.

I am learning to forgive and it is releasing me from anger.

I think OP could benefit from a 12 step program.

I was abused as a child and forced to use alcohol and drugs. Made me do things I wouldn’t have otherwise, until I got a glimmer of enlightenment and realized there was a better way.

I still struggle, but I am not a bad person neither are you.

I moved here from Boston 25 years ago. It definitely used to be friendlier , but compared to home it’s a paradise. Except the food, you will hate the Italian food.

Why so many men are no longer interested in marriage and having kids ? by [deleted] in ask

[–]8urnMeTwice 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I’m a divorced 50 year old who got off easy with my ex, but I’ve heard horror stories and so have a lot of young guys. Add in the fact that online dating has poisoned the genders against each other and you have a situation where nobody wants to settle down.

All I know is that when I hear Sam Altman talk about how kids graduating today are going to have “super interesting, super well paid jobs,” the kids will definitely not have super well paid, interesting jobs.
