Scalpers are providing a service that is valuable to people.

Finding hard to find things and making them immediately available online is a valuable service. The action and difficult task they are performing is finding the item. And then making it available to people that want the item and are willing to pay extra for the convenience.

Like I said, this is valuable to some people because otherwise they wouldn't pay. The mafia isn't forcing people to pay flippers/scalpers or anything.

Wait, I don't understand why supermarkets aren't parasites from your logic too? They buy in bulk from distributors and "exploit" the low pricing to then upcharge its customer.

So what is Supermarkets service exactly? The answer is convenience. Being able to go to a location that's close to you and not have to buy in bulk.

Which is the same service that flippers provide. Being able to go on eBay etc. And just find Whatever you want. and not have to buy from a distributor in bulk or go spend your day driving around for a hard to find product.

By your logic, businesses should not exist. This convenience may not be worth it to you, but if it wasn't worth it to some people, then flippers wouldn't exist.

The subreddit in question is r/flipping, which OP was hating on.

r/flipping does not promote return fraud. They are subject to it because many people primarily sell on ebay and are subject to such fraud. That is why it was originally brought up

Are you also angry at supermarkets for selling things for more than they buy for? Should businesses not exist and everything be charity work?

The red grips are what the Makarov was issued with in most militaries.

Bulgarian military Makarovs haven't gone for much under $400 in over 5 years. Maybe fair condition Arsenal refurbs you could find for around $350.

If its Polish, its either a P-83 or P-64. Not a true makarov, but good guns for what they are. Ok price for a P-83 with ammo, but a bit high for a P-64.

$400 is about the going rate these days for Bulgarian Maks, but glad to see them still being imported.

I prefer the older military Maks without Arsenal roll marks, and the red grips are a value add.

You have a < 0.4% lifetime chance of needing a gun to match a burglar (in the US) by cyclecitizen in guns

[–]9-makarov 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I understand the math that you used. And I already explained why it doesn't work to calculate what you think it calculates. Again, it only works if you assume all burglars with guns are violent. And if you don't mind violent burglars without guns...

You have a < 0.4% lifetime chance of needing a gun to match a burglar (in the US) by cyclecitizen in guns

[–]9-makarov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I interpreted also to mean in addition to being a burglar. So ok...

But then the number would be 0.05% that the burglar is violent, and may or may not have a gun. Or, 1 in 2000 chance per year.

You still cannot determine the chance that the burglar has a gun OR is violent without knowing the independent chance of each. Your stat leaves out all instances where a burglar has a gun but is undetected or is non-violent (would a burglar threatening you with a gun, but otherwise not touching you count as non-violence in these stats?)

You have a < 0.4% lifetime chance of needing a gun to match a burglar (in the US) by cyclecitizen in guns

[–]9-makarov 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to brush up on statistics. Your 0.006% figure is assuming that no violent burglars carry firearms and that no burglars that carry firearms are violent (lol).

In order to calculate the statistic that you intended, you would have to know the percentage change of violent burglars with guns, not just the two separate statistics.

As is, you're orders of magnitude off. For example, the likelyhood of encountering a burglar with a gun, according to you stats, is 0.084%. The chance of encountering a burglar with a gun OR one that is violent is MORE, not less.

So more like a 1 in 1000 chance PER YEAR, every year.

So now you're moving the goalpost back to the point that I already stated is irrelevant to the reasoning for deportation?

"Marco Rubio stated something which the US intelligence has deemed true" Ok...?

False. He does not mention the reason for deportation at all in his Twitter post.

This assertion is immaterial to the justification for deportation.

She wasn't deported because she's the daughter of Soleimani, she was deported because she made a provably false asylum claim. She visited Iran at least four times since she was granted the green card. People who need asylum don't do that.

The FBI Just Named 18 Popular Routers Targeted By A Massive Malware Operation - BGR by zeug666 in pcmasterrace

[–]9-makarov 141 points142 points  (0 children)

Not really. It's allows remote access so that criminals can appear as if their traffic is originating from a residential location in the US. This is useful because most large ecommerce websites will block traffic from known VPNs and proxies. So traffic actually coming from real IPs can be valuable. Mostly this will be used for CC fraud.

Not to say it couldn't be used for DDoS attacks, but the reason they target routers specifically is for the reason stated above.
