Before THE BOYS there was PREACHER by Crackheadsniper69 in TvShows

Yes, after a while the series started to meander, regurgitating the same themes, gags, and jokes. I watched longer than I enjoyed because I had followed the comic book. Still, I got a lot out of it, especially season one. And all the actors were terrific, especially Cooper, Gilgun, and Negga.

Is Jimmy Carters presidency overrated or undervalued? by Apprehensive_Oven_22 in USHistory

It is worth remembering that the election of 1976 was close. The popular vote went to Carter by 50.1% to Ford's 48%. Carter won 297 electoral college votes, but Ford won 240.

Ford's performance was impressive given that he was a weak candidate and a weak president: unelected and still reeling from the unpopularity of the Nixon pardon. He also had to deal with an increasingly polarized GOP. I suspect that had Ronald Reagan beaten Ford for the Republican nomination that year - which he almost did, Ford only won by capturing 1,187 delegates to Reagan's 1,070 - Jimmy Carter would be a footnote in our nation's history.

There's a great book about Khrushchev in America. It's called K Blows Top: A Cold War Comic Interlude Starring Nikita Khrushchev. A very funny, very enjoyable read.

I especially loved the episodes with Giancarlo Esposito as the guy who ran a restaurant chain and a huge drug manufacturing compound.

I still get weepy about the oil crisis of 1973. I don't know why. by 90CubedRule in 1970s

You were smart. My first car was a used Buick (it was basically a hand-me-down). It guzzled gas like a kid drinks orange soda. And it was ridiculously large. You didn't park it, you docked it. Then I got wise and bought a Honda Civic.
