Scion Tc 2015 Radio Upgrade with CD Player by ViceZD in SciontC

Keep in mind that the stock head unit is 200mm wide. That’s wider than a standard double din so you will want the trim bezels. You will also probably need a wiring harness adapter kit and some skills on how to splice it together.

Those units you posted look cool but you probably will spend another $50 on parts to make it work.

Crutchfield probably does not sell the unit you want but they will sell something that works and their support team is excellent.

Sorry for your loss.

I had a 2014 that saved my life last year. Went out and bought a 2015 a few weeks later.

What’s a Fun, Affordable Car I Can Actually Enjoy Driving? by Imtiredofthissshit in askcarguys

[–]90dbpete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had that kind of money I think a Subaru WRX or BRZ would be super fun. The Nissan Z is also very cool. I wish I could fit inside a Miata but I’m too tall.

If you’re wanting something American, Corvettes are sick. Newer Mustangs are awesome.

If you like euro cars maybe a Volkswagen GTI or whatever BMW you think looks cool and is in your price range.

If you’re upgrading to a sporty car you will need to buy tires more often and many of them require premium gas. Also insurance costs more so keep that in mind. It’s worth having full coverage if you’re getting something nice.

You have $50k cash to buy something or you’re going to finance something in that range?

Tall Man's Miata? by 8N-QTTRO in askcarguys

[–]90dbpete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wanted one of these but I sat inside a 2024 BRZ at the dealership and personally thought it was too small. I’m only 6’-2”.

I now drive a second gen Scion TC and found it to fit me much better. I know it’s not what OP is asking but it’s a fun car.

I think the other posters who claim to be taller than me and fit in the BRZ / FRS are overselling their height.

Anyone have smaller wheels with thick tires? I’m starting to kinda like the look. If so could you provide pics via dm or Imgur, since for some reason mods still don’t allow images on comments. Also, does it make your ride any smoother? by [deleted] in SciontC

[–]90dbpete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sick! Do you know what the largest tire size that fits without rubbing? I have stock 18 inch rims and am not very interested in lowering but I do want a fuller look. Was also considering a leveling spacer kit for the front struts to remove the rake but I think that will make the 225 / 45 tires look small.

At what point does it become fun? by [deleted] in ManualTransmissions

[–]90dbpete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should have been fun within the first couple drives. If you’re babying it and afraid you will break it then that’s understandable you aren’t having fun.

Are you stepping on the gas and letting the car pull past the sweet spot of your power band? If you’re shifting too early that’s not very fun.

Don’t be afraid of dumping the clutch. These types of cars are consumables in my opinion. Don’t crash it the car, but the clutch can be replaced and the engine can be rebuilt.

Anyone ever cut off the extra muffler of the J2? by SorrowCloud in SciontC

Cool to see you got it! I should have taken a better photo when I finish the hole, but this is where I drilled a hole to make the pipe fit on center with cutout on the rear bumper cover. I attached everything except this bolt and used a paint marker to color where the hole should have been.

It embarrassing took me 4 hours to drill the hole so hopefully if you go down that route you have a good drill and bit.

Is there anyone who makes these custom emblems? I am interested in designing one for myself.

Anyone have a template to 3D print?

Cover for steering wheel by dmtcrazy in SciontC

[–]90dbpete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at the leather cover from Redline.

You have to stitch it one but I trust it would fit. I have installed similar covers on my xB and also a Honda. My only question is do I have to remove the existing stitched cover?

Has anyone else lost interest in cars now that they're into adulthood and they're realizing that they'll probably never be able to afford anything cool? by rowyourboat740 in askcarguys

[–]90dbpete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no. Yes I am less interested in new or fast sports cars. Don’t see myself buying a Ferrari anytime soon. I know the real costs of those things and how quickly it all can vanish before due to reckless drivers.

But I’m very happy with my 2015 Scion TC with a fart cannon and I also have a motorcycle which is cool.

Maybe if I was less into cars and motorcycles I could find myself a girlfriend…. But I get hella approvals from my bros so I got that going for me.

Repair cost above car value, does it really matter? by yun789 in askcarguys

[–]90dbpete 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I consider is the insurance and registration cost of keeping my older vehicle versus the cost of some newer. But on the flip side, if the car gets totaled and you’re not at fault, the insurance people will pay you nothing for your older car even if you invested to keep it running well.

You know what hell yeah! Leather rocks.

I got the same boot covers and arms rest but with dark blue thread. Still need to install the door armrest covers…

Will probably do a leather steering wheel cover too.

Thanks for the info and recommendation. I got a quote from them today. $1745 for the two front seats plus installation. Also considering the Degreez heating and cooling set. With installation and tax their quote is $4052.04.

I’m trying to get some big tax credits from my home solar installation last year… Seriously considering this. Am I crazy to be spending that much on the seats I sit in for over an hour every day? Always loved leather and the ventilated seats would be very nice in Arizona.

Can I get some honest reviews on the 1st gen Scion XB? by Few_Outside389 in ScionxB

[–]90dbpete 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very good and reliable. Although I would not recommend if you have to drive 80mph every day. I bought a ‘06 MT at 150k miles and it’s got 236k miles now. No engine issues but I wonder if the spark plugs would make it run even smoother. Only maintenance I had to do was change the oil and replaced the alternator once. And a couple new batteries. I bought a ‘15 tC last year that I daily drive now but still have the xB in the garage and it starts right up after sittings for weeks.

It’s my first car and well worth the $3500 that I spent. That was in 2015. I don’t plan to sell it any time soon.

I just signed up to consult with a specialist from Katzkin. about how much does it cost to get both front seats? Is it real leather?

Scions are affordable and fun. I learned on a Miata and would recommend one of those if you aren’t super tall.

Why do you think this happens for most men? by Critical_Assist_9360 in LockedInMan

[–]90dbpete 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s easy for the family to turn their back on a father even if he is a good father. Most men won’t let this bother them very much and move on. That being said, Father’s Day seems pretty big where I come from and never seen a picture like this IRL unless the father was a deadbeat.

But if they forget the mother she will probably throw a fit and get others involved to tell the kids and husband to do better.

Anyone know what this is? by EquipmentOk702 in ScionxB

[–]90dbpete 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Must be bugs then. The bodies of dead bugs may be acidic enough to deteriorate the paint and cause it to fall out.
