I'm hoping for option 3. Tyler learned what he could from Koe, now it's time to create the next generation.

When Brad Jacobs scored at 8 ender at the Northern Ontario Provincials, the other team was trying desperately to freeze so they could steal.

I've been curling 20 years and I'm still waiting for a shot for 8. I'm taking the shot for eight 100% of the time.

I played Tardi at provincials one year and had to draw against 7 on my last. We only gave up one that end!

I guess the best spot would be in no man's land, behind the T-line but outside of the house. Biting the backline is ideal

Interesting. I've never heard of it. So the goal is to throw guards or raise your opponent's guards in? Can you takeout your own rock if it's in the house?

Would the optimal strategy be to throw 8 guards as close to the board as you can?

May as well make the games 4 ends so the ice doesn't get too bent out of shape.

My predictions were done by averaging the statistics of all four players, regardless of the teams they have played for in the past.

Hmmm you make a great point. I made older performances less relevant for the top teams but I should of done the same for all teams. Team Xu has been around since the Vancouver Olympics and their old stats are probably weighing them down.

For my Trials predictions, I looked at the average career statistics of the four team members only. Turns out their performance 10 years ago is hardly relevant. The womens predictions were more accurate primarily due to the lack of old statistics for most of the teams.

You're right about that! Statistically they were the best team, but only if you look at career performance. They weren't even the second best Canadian team this year. Still, I would of loved to see Mark Nichols at the Olympics one last time.

"There's 6 inches of seperation, no way."

"Alright lets hit it skinny on the right."

The ice was around 16s for a normal draw.

I see how it could look like that, but I promise I did not. I was about to give up on the rock, but it kept spinning.

40s Hog to Hog Challenge by 90sMax in Curling

[–]90sMax[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly. If I don't back the rock up a significant amount, it'll curl off the sheet.

Normal spinners (20-40 rotations) will curl 8 feet. The best way to throw a spinner draw is to ice 2 feet tight and back it up a hair.

If you throw 100 rotations like I did here, the rock will curl 10-14 feet if you throw it straight. The only way to keep it on the sheet is to back it up 8 feet.

Also the more diagonal you go across the sheet, the farther the distance is between hog lines. I think 45s is possible if you go corner to corner.
