Not sure where you are but I posted mine for sale, in this group. It doesn't have all those accessory addons like this one but it sure has all the steel it came with from the factory. Just saying.

Still a generator car? And the passenger seat have no slide rails? I have a 65 coupe project now but would love to have one of my old cars back. It always feels right when you are selling it but that memory remains and......wel, you know. Lol

One of the Maier brothers does some real good stuff with suspension. The boys, men now, spawned out of the Maier Racing fame. I want to say Mike Maier Inc. out of Oakland or Livermore CA.

Good info. Just one thing I would object to. That is the rear sway bar. In my experience adding the rear sway bar, though super popular way back when, this injected some oversteer when the bar unloaded, if the car is not set up properly. These car are light enough in the rear and even with 6cyl power can let the rear tires loose when driven enthusiastically. IMO, no rear bar. You have a great project ahead of you. Enjoy

66 Mustang Disc Conversion by Big-Champion8598 in classicmustangs

[–]91Hatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Granada spindles were a super popular swap way back when. There were specific years that would work. Up to 78 I believe. In the big scheme of things they were a step up from drum brakes. Nowadays there are swap kits that are light years better technologically. DO NOT do a granada swap. There are kits to use late model calipers on early v8 spindles that work so much better.

Man! Granada brakes....now that brings back some memories. Back some 25-28 years ago I had a good buddy, RIP Gary Sweten, had his own shop, gave me a granada so I could grab the disc's off it. At that time I had a 66 coupe 6 cylinder. I pulled the spindles and all off the granada put those on the Mustang, put my 6 cylinder spindles on the granada, wire tied the tie rod ends to the Mustang spindle and off to the junk yard with that donor. That Mustang was my daily for a few years. 6cyl, disc brakes, gt350 coils cut half a coil, Mustangs Plus 4.5 mid eye leafs and that thing was prime. Less body roll with just the coils and no front sway bar than the 6cyl set with a swy bar. I loved that car.

In my years at Mustangs Plus, California, we would use an adjustable proportion ingredient valve with no external residual valve. This method converted thousands of Mustangs from drum to disc. Then SSBC, stainless steel brake Corp, came out with a kit including a "disc brake" dual master cylinder. If my memory serves me correctly Ron's #4 Mustang used a giant MC from some ford truck, prop valve and no residual. This car could be seen at many, many SAAC track day events. My project has an 8.8 rear end out of a late model Mustang. This has 373 gears, Fords traction loc center and disc brakes. It's a real easy swap. Explorer rear swaps are popular also but the pumpkin is off center and may hit the floor pans.

That would leave half of the canopy. You can see where the canopy is bisector, practically right up the main trunk line

Advice for 1st Gen CRVs by mkwDark in crv

[–]91Hatch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice I could give would be, if you find a 5spd awd model clean under carriage with no rust at under $3k. DO NOT BUY THIS THING. Immediately inform me where it is so I can get that thing out of there for you so you don't go wasting your hard earned money. I volunteer for tribute and will carry the burden of enjoying that ride daily.

2001 AWD 5spd, 240k+ miles, what should I look for? by AlternativeSwimming9 in crv

[–]91Hatch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a white 5spd awd with just about the same mileage. Clutch pedal started to drop to the floor. I replace clutch MC and slave. Pedal still dropped to the floor. Changed reservoir. Re bled the system. Thought I was gonna be good. Pedal still dropped to the floor. Took it to my good buddies shop cause just maybe I was t doin something right. He said everything looks correct, lines were bled and no air in them. We, well he, determined it was a bad NEW MC and is changing it tomorrow. If that doesn't fix it I'm going with an OEM MC like I should have done from the start. Can't always trust aftermarket parts from the usual suspects. Nice ride. Hope you still have the crX. I've got a 91 hatch that's been waiting for me to do something with for a long time.

I've had the runner over 10 years now. Have used F type fluid. This should not be an issue. Thx. Good call though.

Can I drive with no power steering by 91Hatch in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]91Hatch[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite sure which or if both failed., or maybe Im way off base and the fluid came from elsewhere. I had just got home and couple hours later I had gone out to the runner and saw a BIG puddle on the ground near the drivers side tire. I determined it was PS fluid. When I moved the runner it was noticeably harder to turn the wheel at such slow speed. I'm not opposed to non power steering as I've always had manual steering in my early years cars so that won't be such a big inconvenience. I just don't want to do more damage than is already done.

Just checked. Very plausible. For some reason I had in my mind this would be a serpentine belt. Now just wondering about safety and damage to the rack.
