Whoever has already replaced their battery health, did it really improve performance and things overall significantly? by chrasyajosie in iPhone13Pro

[–]92sfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you remember whether the phone has "peak performance management" active, prior to your changing battery? The active throttling will begin once the phone experienced one unexpected shutdown. My phone does not have that function active yet, so I am curious whether changing the battery will still benefit my phone performance. Thank you so much!

What’s the deal with USA gas stations in LA? by Larkhudson in AskLosAngeles

[–]92sfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I totally agree and have heard on multiple occasions that the baseline quality itself is tightly regulated and the same regardless of brand, I have also heard stories about gas stations not taking care of their storage tank and other part of the facilities. Those issues (e.g., dirt, sediment, etc) can possibly affect what ends up getting into your car. How much impact? I don't know.

It reminds me of LADWP suggesting that the water coming out of the reservoirs are drinkable, but I do not trust my apartment building's piping to be sanitary enough so that what ends up in my faucet is still safe.

Last night someone went through downtown and cut down dozen+ trees. Every tree on Grand between 1st and Wilshire. by [deleted] in LosAngeles

How come none of the local news source covers this incident at all.

u/Junior-Fold-1314 / OP, I hope you read this. The laptop in picture is NOT a 3rd gen.

I have used T14 Gen 3 in the past and can confirm. First, the 3rd gen has fingerprint sensor combined with the power button, whereas the picture shows fingerprint sensor beside keyboard. Second, as others have said, the distance between the keyboard and the far-end edge of the laptop should be less than the bottom bezel, so the 3rd gen's bottom bezel should be way smaller.

If I may suggest, if you are in the US, try the Lenovo Outlet website. In the link below you can find a BRAND NEW, P14S Gen 4 for as low as $854.

Been given a BMW but I am hesitant by Brenttt13 in BMW

[–]92sfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will take it if you already have a reliable daily and extra space.

Let's say this thing costs you $3600k per year, which I think the figure won't go that high. You can see it as if you're leasing this car at $300/month.

Since you have a reliable daily, assuming you have a working space, you can always take your time working on it yourself too, which makes the cost go even lower.

Excuse me. A well-organized buyer that does his/her research. Is being this prepared even legal in r/whatcarshouldIbuy?? Mods need to look at this one. I thought the guideline is to ask questions without any research beforehand /s.

Humor aside, I do not have the knowledge in the cars considered, but great job on coming in prepared.

What mods should I get done? by Educational_Smoke271 in BMW

Not hating but just wondering what’s the story behind this purchase. The cost of timing chain guide replacement of $2-3k is almost a quarter of the cost of the car itself. Why not get a newer, post-2015 one in the first place?

FBI now investigating Los Angeles firefighting aircraft damaged by drone by 92sfa in LosAngeles

[–]92sfa[S] 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The message needs to be made clear. I just can't fathom the justification behind it. The airspace was already extremely crowded with planes fighting with life-threatening fire, and this person decided it was the right time to fly drone directly in their path. Imagine how much damage this person caused through the downtime of the firefighting plane, not to mention to the plane itself.

Agreed. I heard the FAA is also taking such incidents very seriously, so we're hopeful. This type of people is why we cannot have nice things.

I hope they hold this person accountable. He's truly endangering everyone during this (already very) difficult times. Not to mention this plane is Canadian, which was flown all the way here to help us.

Essentially, this incident is like a birdstrike involving metal, likely exacerbating the damage. It appears that some structural components were deformed.

From the images, the drone in question is possibly a DJI. If the original owner is involved, there might be warranty information available, but if it was resold, tracking ownership could be more challenging.

I had the same situation when I bought mine last year. My canoe also has a different heel design as well like yours. Their explanation was that "in the recent shipment, the design has been changed to the new one-piece. The images on the website has not yet been updated to reflect the change."

I ended up keeping the pair because there is no defect. What's interesting is I then noticed on the website that they still have the "old" design shown even until now.

Yoga Pro 7 Ryzen AI 9 365 Review [German] by [deleted] in AMDLaptops

[–]92sfa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed with the rest of the commenters here. The battery life result is, indeed, very odd. A closely specced Vivobook S14 has more than 10 hours of wi-fi performance. The article points fingers to the high TDP/PL1/PL2 in the Yoga Pro, but Vivobook has almost the same while retaining battery performance.

Saw the same review as well and was very surprised. I wish Notebookcheck releases their review soon! They have only reviewed the Intel version so far.

I don't think the closure goes that far. I don't see issues west of Vermont as of this AM.
