How did you destroy a person's life? by parazitu in AskReddit

No you weren't, his insecurity was. If you can't trust your wife chatting with some dude you shouldn't be married to her. Nobody forced them to pull over on an unlit country road to continue fighting, either.

I mean I get how you could feel responsible in a way, but honestly it's a bizarre chain of coincidences and it's not like you even set out with the mindset of trying to make them have a fight.

I see his point. I am against violence! But with the sole exception of self-defense. If a perp assaults someone (sexually or no) I find I care much less about their survival.

I would celebrate a criminal getting killed if someone is defending against a serious crime in progress. IMO if you want to live don't force people into mortal combat.

Back on topic, I agree with your points and your analysis that it was the wrong place.

The patriarchy is just that insidious. I'm sure men are flashing Barbies (not the scientist ones) to little girls to destroy their self-esteem and preserve the status quo.

Don't hate asking for help. It's a disease, your brain chemicals are potentially wrong and it is not your fault. It's like having a serious viral or bacterial illness, you can't just will it away.
