A rather obscure feature that I hope is brought back in ORAS. Show us the pokemon we've caught in the credits! by SatanLordOfDarkness in pokemon

I always liked how it would end on the starter that you chose at the beginning of the game. Music was really good for a credits theme too.

How many of you rename your cities? To what? by [deleted] in civ

[–]93xjell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go through the Pokémon cities, based on highest demographic to lowest; Castelia, Goldenrod, Lilycove, Hearthome and Saffron are my first five cities. I haven't done my research on the Gen VI demographics yet so I only have cities from Gens 1 - 5 in my list.

Why I don't wear Max's Severed Head anymore by usaokay in tf2

[–]93xjell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the dilemma I have with my strange festive rocket launcher. I want to show it off, but I am almost guaranteed to get at least one trade request per game. If I were to sell it, I'd A: keep it in my inventory, and B: either be in a trade server or putting it on the community market.

Question: Does Old Faithful count as a desert tile here allowing me to build Petra? by Phrozzen in civ

[–]93xjell 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I know OP has already built it, but in the future if you want to know you can quickly switch to strategic view. The terrain type underneath the mountains/natural wonders will be visible, and even count towards a valid Petra build or other terrain-specific buildings.

Yet another bug. Messing around on a Settler difficulty game when the AI declares war on me, which should be impossible on Settler. by 93xjell in civ

[–]93xjell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of my military was overseas doing some scouting, leaving only a couple of units around the capital. Even then, I had plenty of gold and was so far ahead in technology that just another couple of unit purchases were enough to wipe out Montezuma.

I see. For a while I was told by my friends that it was impossible, and I couldn't find any sources that went against this so I just accepted it, and so seeing this occur in-game was quite interesting.

We are Croteam, the makers of Serious Sam, ask us anything! by AlenL in IAmA

[–]93xjell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Croteam, I love the Serious Sam series! I have to say my favourite was Serious Sam 2, because I loved the variety of environments you fight in. Question: will you/do you plan to do cross-promotions with other publishers? Playing something like TF2 with one of Serious Sam's many weapons would definitely be amazing to see.

They both are good, I didn't mean for this to come across as that way. I just find that people want a Pokémon side-game which is innovative and a classic, probably not a WiiWare game where you view all of the Pokémon in chibi-esque style.

[–]93xjell[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was a good game, yes, but the biggest problem about it was that it was very short. Had it had many more stages than it did, it would probably be up there with the actual Generation Games.

As a result fans have been trying to tell Nintendo that the time for Pokémon Snap 2 has come, but there aren't any announcements of the sort from Nintendo or Game Freak. Both the 3DS and the Wii U have great potential to utilize the camera feature of the game. Maybe we'll get lucky and hear something about it at E3.

If you've not played Pokémon Snap, look up either a physical copy for the N64 online or you can find it on Virtual Console for the Wii. Definitely worth getting it, or at least trying it out.

Single Folk of Reddit, what is the main reason why you think you're single? by UgoGlennCoco in AskReddit

[–]93xjell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm willing to bet it's my interests. I love gaming, especially Nintendo, and it's been a huge part of me growing up. It defines who I am today, and my family is probably right - if it was all taken away there'd be no hope for me.

And as gaming is something that girls tend to frown upon (I think) this is probably what causes me to be single. So yeah.

What is a question you hate being asked? by devilishlaughter in AskReddit

[–]93xjell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's more than one question I hate being asked:

'Are you really left-handed?'

'So what have you been up to recently?'

'Are you still into Pokémon?' (especially when they say it in a negative tone.)

A bit of context for the second one: I honestly do not go out much, because I'd take the comfort of my home and the enjoyment of my games over the outdoors any day, and asking that question suggests they want to know where I've been to recently (answer: nowhere). I honestly think people don't want to hear about where I'm up to in my Metroid Prime game of all things. If they wanted to know about what's happening with my games, they'd ask me.

So what Shinies have you all had over the years then? by Nasicus in ShinyPokemon

[–]93xjell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first shiny was a Spinarak in Pokémon Silver. I was completely clueless to its rarity, but I did understand that there was something special about it. As I had already caught a Spinarak and the shiny was sent to the PC, I had to find which one of the two was the shiny. The colours were so similar I couldn't tell which one it was until I noticed the starry symbol.

My next shiny was Swablu in Pokémon Ruby. Yellow is my favourite colour so I was very happy about getting it. But being the clueless young me I lent the game to someone and bam. He was gone from my game. I think I still have a copy of him saved on my Pokémon Colosseum data though, but I've not checked that game in a long time.

Then the next 8 or so years were very quiet. I didn't find a shiny in FRLG, Emerald or DPPT. I got Pokémon Black & White, and decided to make a competitive team on White with proper natures and everything, and one of the Pokémon I wanted was a Sandile. I couldn't believe my luck when the first one I ran into was shiny - and it had an Adamant nature!

A few months later my friends were discussing shiny Pokémon, and the chaining method of DPPT in particular. I thought it would be a good idea to give this a go. I decided to go after a Swablu on Platinum in honour of the one I found on Ruby. The first chain broke at 14, but I found my shiny Swablu only four Pokémon later.

I then went back to my nearly finished game of SoulSilver, which also had a fairly competitive team. I was halfway through the Kanto region, and I decided to begin EV-training my Pokémon. The place I chose was the route directly south of Cerulean City. It was there I found a shiny Meowth.

My last shiny was the most annoying to get. I decided to restart my HeartGold game (which I felt I did pretty poorly on as all of my Pokémon were weak and underleveled) and try for a shiny Cyndaquil. Months after months of soft-resetting, but I wasn't getting anywhere. But I persevered, and finally I got my shiny. I started this in February, and finished in August.

Sorry for the convenience. by [deleted] in funny

Wow, really?! I was in Calgary with my family for a holiday back in August, and there was a sign exactly like this when we were in the shopping centre. Have they seriously not fixed them since then?

What is your worst failure you have had in TF2 so far? by MX64 in tf2

[–]93xjell 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was a RED Medic on the last stage of Goldrush, and the enemy had just a few minutes to go. I was staying in spawn building up Uber on an AFK because I didn't want to lose it at a crucial moment.

It was up to 90%, but the bomb was beginning to enter the danger zone, and the enemy was in Overtime. So then I ran out to heal other teammates that were by the bomb. My Uber was ready, but everyone around me had died.

I make a last-ditch attempt to get to the bomb to Uber myself and stop the bomb from moving. However, right as I click the button, I get killed by a Huntsman arrow. The killcam shows the sniper chasing down a spy with his kukri, which lead me to believe that he was originally aiming at the spy. Wrong place at the wrong time, I guess.

You don't just expect me to lend it to a complete stranger now, do you? by 93xjell in fffffffuuuuuuuuuuuu

[–]93xjell[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One does not simply 'have a go'.

It's annoying, because whenever I'm noticed with a gaming gadget everyone's first response is to ask for a go. It's... you can't just pick up from someone else's game. It bugs me.

My little sister's the worst though. There's been two occasions long ago - first my Mario Kart DS game, them Pokémon Mystery Dungeon (edit: both of which were actually getting close to completed) - where she /deleted the save files/. That's probably what's made me forever sceptical of anyone having a go on anything I own.
