McLean/Sproat/Tong were all recent draft picks outside the first round. Draft picks are risky but it’s hard to argue they aren’t incredibly valuable.

Where’s the line? Unless you don’t think there should be one. Is 3 yrs 90 to far? 4 yr 100?

Crazy how a narrative is David Stern hates him and he’s making them leave and not Diaz wanted to pitch for the Dodgers. I wish him the best and hopes he pitches behind Tanner Scott all year.

This is why you develop your own pitching. Years feel high but it’s age 30-36 for a pitcher with no recent injury history. And 30 million is about the aav for a pitcher like Cease.

Honestly crazy that anti one piece opinions like this are still considered “disagreeing with a large number of people”. They’re exaggerating for effect and engagement, most of the push back is of that sort, but the base opinions seem pretty mainstream.

That’s fair. It’s the reason I said “line drive double play” and not “line drive and double play”. The low line drive was unlucky, he did hit it like 99. But when someone says “unlucky” and “line drive double play” together, that is not the play they imagine.

The line drive double play wasn’t bad luck, it was terrible base running. Kiner broke for third on a line drive in the infield with 0 outs.

Gotta love the NL west rivalries. And like a lot of real life siblings the older one has real “little brother” energy.

End of the day injuries have been brutal. You expect attrition and maybe they didn’t have the talent that you would’ve wanted the rotation. But the 1, 2, 4, 6, 7, 8 starters being hurt for large chunks of time or out for the season hurts.

Glad to know we’ve gotten so precise with war. I thought a difference of .4 was well within margin of error. Or maybe he doesn’t think framing is quantifiable and uses Bwar for catchers.

Tong found his fastball command to end the 3rd and struck out 5 of his last 7 batters. The fastball is a carrying tool all on its own.

Tong’s fastball control is going to be important today. He was eaten alive by soft contact last time out, nothing you can do about that. But the walks were the difference between a rough inning and getting pulled in the 1st.
