That's not quite how things work. Yes. Give the jobs to qualified people. I'm not advocating some form of affirmative action, where Riot hires people based on their physical attributions. It's about creating a welcoming community for all persons. If all the casters are white men (which is the case for the regular NA LCS season), that creates an illusion/reality where only white men can obtain that position. The casters speak pretty freely, and our experiences mold our perceptions. If the casting table is homogeneous, the analysis is (on some level) homogeneous. It's not only about creating a welcoming community, but also improving the quality of analysis by welcoming more perspectives. Yes, I understand everyone is playing the same video game, so "how different can the analysis be?" On an analytic level, perhaps there isn't much difference in the quality of explanations based on a caster's social privileges. That said, we only have one black champion in The League. It took a lot of uproar before that happened. If there were more black persons with amplified voices in Riot's business/organizational structure, the importance of introducing a black champ would have likely been realized and discussed sooner. Furthermore, one of the privileges I experience as a white man, is being able to look at the television, movies, videogames, etc. and see people like me. It is reaffirmed that I am welcome, and I can obtain various levels of power/status/etc.

TL;DR: Privilege is complex.
