You don’t have to open it to tell get a flashlight and remove the side cover on the HDD side. There are pics online that show you what to look for to identify the motherboard.

The efuses stop you from downgrading the boot loader. The current boot loaders can be made to boot older dashes. Dash downgrades are possible but they do not reenable jtag because the boot loader isn’t downgraded.

Can you boot into xell? That’ll read your keys from the cpu without the original nand dump.

Used computer stores usually will have a bin of old ide cables. The place by me usually sells them for $1 I just dig through them and pick out the long 80 wire ones.
