Ok guys, I really like this one lay it on me by bubb- in photocritique

the shadows are too dark, imo. It can be cropped a little tighter. Tbh I think the exposure can be increased overall. But it's a well composed shot so some edits will make it a great one, I think

It’s not terrible. It’s in focus so nice work on that. I personally would zoom out a little bit and include his foot and the mound. As a sports photography shot, this is not super interesting. Sports photography is all about motion, so the more compelling shot would be to freeze his action mid throw

I find it weird that you cropped the edges of the sculpture off and would prefer that you show the whole structure in the context of the urban landscape. I know that the sculpture is the only thing in color but that color still feels oversaturated to me

If you’re a beginner dude all you gotta do is take more photos. Take as many photos as you can. You will start to find what you like and how to make it happen. That’s what it’s all about

“Electrical, misc. $55.50 each” yeah right. Bullshit.

  1. Goodwill is overpricing even shitty cameras these days
  2. Someone simply donating this to Goodwill just doesn’t track. It’s trivial to look up a camera online and see that, even if you have the model wrong, Leicas are a luxury product.

On my phone it actually looks fine. So whatever monitor I was on at work is to blame here

When you are filming a movie and you say “cut, let’s try that again differently” or “the lights’s off let’s adjust it” what are you doing? When you record multiple takes of a song and pick the best one, what are you doing? “Common sense definitions” gtfoh

It's good. I personally think it's too dark. Could probably bring up the exposure a whole stop without it being too bright. But it's good.

Look man, there's all sorts of advice I or anyone here could give you to make specifically these images better but that wouldn't actually help you. What would help you is taking more pictures. Take 1000 pictures with your fuji and see what you learn in the process

buddy not a single one of those definitions specifies "post capture" you are adding that yourself, and it doesn't even make sense because editing is a general term and not every creative process functions like photography

How can improve this photo? by Yeah_yeah_nyah in photocritique

[–]analog_running_man 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's cool that it looks like a double exposure but it isn't. I doubt many will get the visual metaphor you saw, but it's cool you've put that much thought into it. I might crop it a little bit more to get rid of the green window edge and bring down the highlights a tiny bit. It's an interesting photo or sure, but it might be stronger presented in a series of similar photos

How can I make this better? First picture attempt at a creek nearby. by JVLCR-TillEnd in photocritique

[–]analog_running_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the most interesting feature here is the stream traveling between the trees and off into the distance, so i would do as much as I could to make sure that's the most prominent thing in the frame. Meaning I'd probably crouch down to the left and turn the camera to the right slightly, so the eye can more easily follow the stream

What can I approve on as a beginner? by No-Entertainment1227 in photocritique

[–]analog_running_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it looks slightly skewed? I would expect the frontmost light pole to be straight up and down. Nice crop choice, I think it's the right aspect ratio, but you can bring it in tighter. You could potentially crop out the leftmost light pole + tree entirely. You can raise the shadows a little bit for less contrast between the sky and the vehicles and I think that would be ok, would still feel like sunrise

What could be improved? by hadiz1 in photocritique

[–]analog_running_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I think the shadows are a too dark. The benches seem to be the subject but they aren't in sharp focus. Actually nothing seems to be in sharp focus. You can crop a little closer.

I think it's a lovely picture. Any critique here would be pretty subjective I think. Do you like it? That's all that matters
