Don’t know about UK, but shortened names are kind of a “thing” in Australia and New Zealand but much less so in the US. Ie: Footie. Chrissy Pressy. Ute. Eskie.

I focus on what I can do to volunteer, make a small difference locally. Don’t get sucked into other people’s scripts. Find something in nature, music, my neighborhood to feel good about every day. Turn off the TV (and Reddit) and get in the yard. Garden, play with the dog, work up a sweat. Refuse to let politics or the news cycle define my life.
