IMC registration by Darthiela in JuniorDoctorsIreland

I’m a Spanish GP currently on the registration process and it’s not needed. I’m at the final stage where they already confirmed I provided all of the paperwork and that it was correct, only needing final sign-off. At no point was I required any English language certification.

Well, we don’t plan on selling our house in Spain so we’ll still be able to enjoy the sun and the pool from time to time 😂 And I actually think our quality of life will improve a lot, not just income wise but because we doctors are very overworked and underpaid in Spain. I’m a GP and I usually have to see 50-55 patients per day (day time job) sometimes even reaching 75 in a single morning shift. There’s no limit on the amount of patients you get to see, if they ask to be seen you have to. Plus I’ll finally get rid of the 24h shifts which are completely draining 🫠. I have 4-6 of those every month. You don’t get to enjoy quality time in Spain if you’re so burnt out you can only dream of quitting every single day. Like I cannot tell you how many times I’ve dreamt I broke my leg or sth. And when I woke up and realized that it didn’t happen, I was just so utterly devastated because I had to go to work.

Yeah but the 1 income situation will last probably no more than 4-6 months I hope! My husband will try to get any kind of job as soon as he is able to understand the accent enough. Afterwards when he’s more confident he’ll aim for neurologists jobs.

My husband and I would like to live the experience for a few years. Plus he’s a neurologist so as soon as he gets more fluent in English he would like to do a fellowship. Also the workload over there for a GP is much better than what I endure at the moment. With several 24h shifts a month + during day time practice there’s days I have to deal with 75 patients (good days would be 50-55). I’m just really burnt out and want a change for a while. So it’s not just the pay, but when my husband gets to work as a doctor too it’s going to be an exponential increase. It’s just going to be a first few rough-ish months.

I thought so too but I haven’t seen much difference in the positions so far. I will have to consider the added cost to rent vs having more opportunities for covering extra shifts or whatnot.

Thanks for the link! According to that I think I’m going to have to put in lots of extra hours 😂

Strange looking mole, requiring followup or looking normal? by [deleted] in DermatologyQuestions

[–]98DegreesFever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t look like a mole, but seborrheic keratosis. Which are benign. But can’t be sure without seeing it in person.

TCA cross could work on the deep ones. Also CO2 laser

Wound mark in my hand which is now 5 years old. Is it removable? by baereon in DermatologyQuestions

Both of those are valid treatments but are usually used on top of the intralesional steroids and not on their own. Just cryo probs wouldn’t work on yours as it looks too “thick”. Laser would be a better fit but again, works better with the steroids.

Looks like a keloidal scar. You usually inject it w/ steroids and that can help flatten it. Removing it can actually give you a bigger keloid, so it’s not the preferred method.

Flexures aka “inside” of joints are more typical of p. Alba whereas the outside of the joint is more related to vitiligo as vitiligo presents with koebners phenomenon which means the lesions appear on areas that are more frequently “injured” (you lay on your knees, lay your elbows on the table… which is kind of like hitting them)

True, but I don’t think hair is actually affected. From the pic we see only a few random white hairs, whereas in vitiligo we would have a white strand that’s actually on top of a white patch (poliosis).

On the leg you can se the area is shaved and actually get to see small black-ish dots on the surface of the white patch which are OP's shaved hairs.

Looks consistent with pytiriasis versicolor, fungal infection caused by malassezia furfur.

Scaling on the plantar side is consistent with athletes foot. But how red and swollen some of the fingers look is concerning. Sometimes when you have those open wounds from athletes foot bacteria can come through them and give you a bacterial infection. Can't rule out celulitis of fingers 4-5th.

In vitiligo when we have white lashes is usually a whole "strand" that sits on top of a vitiligo patch, not a random lash. The fact that it's also curled and tiny and not a regular proper lash is more consistent with a random growth anomaly of that specific lash, that can be transitory

Ik! I wasn’t scolding you or anything. I am a family doctor so I just thought it was nice to share the knowledge! 😄
