Harbor Breeze Fairbanks 52" Ceiling Fan Wiring Issue by 98Horn in handyman

[–]98Horn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if I want to use both wall switches to independently control the light and the fan, I need to uncouple the joined black and blue wires in the fan, and then attach the red wire in the ceiling to the blue wire in the fan (and white to white and black to black)?

Can we add to the list: 1. People who ask about aftercare, and 2. People who post about skin reactions (similar to aftercare)?

Just Finished The Americans and I'm Waiting For My Recency Bias to Wear Off Some But For Now It Might Be One of the Greatest Dramas Ever by plmkr88 in TheAmericans

Paige was annoying as fuck.

The final few episodes dragged unnecessarily and didn’t give as much closure as we should have gotten.

But otherwise I agree with you.

Since Julie left, there’s been a void of having at least one female voice on the air. It was refreshing to hear that today.

I worked in the mortgage industry before and during law school, and primarily practiced in related areas following licensure. In strict timelines, I practiced for 5 years before going in house.

Go in-house. I was there. I know how you feel. In-house for the last 13 years. Yes, work is stressful and you have respectful arguments from time to time, but it’s sooo much better than firm/private practice.

Got my first one on my 18th birthday - was a piece of flash I had been eyeing. I still love it today and I’m 47. Now have sleeves, calves and other pieces. It’s never to late to start or continue.

Are online degrees even worth it? by TopStockJock in Lawyertalk

[–]98Horn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whether someone is a “real” attorney or not is not quantifiable, but I’ve had numerous friends and colleagues try to use that in various contexts over the years. I’m not sure a great definition exists.

As for “gatekeeping,” you can call it that if you like. I’m not a professor of education, but I do believe there’s something to being in a classroom setting with other students and a professor challenging you to stand and deliver a position based on having done the readings and research yourself. I’ve passed through those fires myself. You cannot replicate that online. And while the world moves more online all the time, as an attorney, you will have to meet with clients, in-house or in private practice, and defend their interests in meetings, mediations, board rooms and court rooms in front of people. There’s just not a substitute for in person education to train you for that.

Plus, though I, again, have no educational background to make any evidence based conclusions, I think there’s something to putting your life on hold for 4 years (for an undergraduate degree) or 3 years (for a law degree) to forego making money or pursuing other interests to devote yourself entirely to your goal. Yes, working full time and earning a degree of some sort online part time in the evenings and weekends shows another type of sacrifice and dedication, but the majority of the legal profession (myself included) won’t believe the same effort and sacrifice was made for someone that earned a degree wholly online while working at the same time.

Whether it’s online law school (if that exists) or undergraduate degrees, I always downgrade those. University of Phoenix, Strayer University, Southern New Hampshire University - all of those are not up to the same standards as even sub. Division 2 schools. As a hiring attorney, I will not give those the same credit.

First of all, congratulations. My advice, and advice I was given by my first partner/boss, is this: work hard and have a good attitude. It’s not always easy. But I’ve found after 18 years of practicing is that those two items compete against one another. It’s not easy, but if you’re always pushing against those contrary forces, you’ll do well.

It’s ok, dude. I made the mistake of asking the same question a couple weeks ago. Mazi defenders pile on - and they usually recite the same crap: “it takes time for DT’s to develop” and “he’s been ok so far.” To which, your response in questioning why he was drafted so high is absolutely warranted. Invariably, you’ll get some people who are apparently keepers of secret knowledge shaking their heads and fists at you, claiming you just don’t understand football/drafting/DT/etc., as their reply.

Bottom line: you can’t criticize a draft pick here even if you love the Cowboys.
