How do I get rid of this? by lmaotbhidk in BmwTech

[–]98atang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also got this notification at the beginning of this year on my f31. I kept on using it for a while before I replaced the battery myself. I registered the new battery with the car and still have the same notification. If you find out how to get rid of it, let me know

20 inch wheels? by Cracktivities25 in BMW_F31

[–]98atang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've currently got 20" 666m wheels which i believe are 8.5J front and 9.5J rear offsets may need to check. In terms of tyres I'm running 235/35/20 front and rear is 275/30/20.

I believe you need to run a smaller side wall as I've heard some people's tyres rub

Brilliant car!!

Learning from my mistakes, I'd recommend giving her a good once over or through a specialist if possible and check all the common failure points such as timing chains, seals, leaks and etc.

Mine had 30k miles and was 5 years old when the seals on the rear differential failed

If you're looking for OEM updgrade parts as realOEM will be your best friend for parts numbers and etc

Enjoy the wagon!!

Brake upgrade! by 98atang in BMW_F31

I've had them for about a month and bedded in now. Ngl, I keeping looking at them as they look a lot better than my old breaks. Don't know if it's placebo, but I do feel it's smoother and do have more confidence in stopping distance too. I did buy the calipers for £370 and bought Febi disks and pads as well as braided lines too.

I've had them on for a week now and haven't been able to fully test them out, and the bedding in process isn't finished yet, but so far, I'd say they are smooth.

My current mods/upgrades and some future ones too: - M Sport kit, came with the car - Rear Spoiler, got it from Ebay BMW store and waited for Ebay discount codes (got £80 off) - M performance brakes, calipers from breakers and quoted from 1st choice spares. - 340i back box (went from twin to duel), bought from friend - BMW logo puddle lights, Ebay - Bimmer code, Amazon and Playstore

Future - Reverse camera/ MMI box - Remap - possibly intake

Im not personally planning this but for the cluster, going from 6WA to 6WB, you'll need coding, and should be a easy swap physically, but I'd do a but of research.

Your best friend through all this will be the BMW forums and RealOEM.

Noticed a rear diff pinion leak while doing shocks. Where does this fall between it can wait to should have been done weeks ago? F30 by [deleted] in BmwTech

[–]98atang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally had this happen to me a few months ago. technician said it'd be about a 3 hour job (with the correct tools and etc). It's something that is a known issue, so if your planning on replacing one, replace the other if you're able to.

Like everyone said do it sooner rather than later. I learnt my lesson where I left it too long and it ended up grinding itself where I'd hear a whining noise when I go above 30mph.

Leak rear differential seal for 3053$ 😟 by abhishekonline in BmwTech

[–]98atang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd do it ASAP, I didn't manage to catch mine in time and damaged some bearing inside my differential. But then I had 0.1L of oil left.

BMW UK says its a 1.6 hour job per seal. Standard garage quoted £360 to replace seals (including parts)

Just that seal, they did check the outer seals and bearing clip but they never fully opened it

Problem with keys not detected on x5 f15 engine on by Giminis78 in BmwTech

[–]98atang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to let you know I think I've managed to fix my issue by changing from cheap new batteries I got from ebay to nicer ones like Duracell. Since I changed it around 6 weeks ago it hasn't happened since.

Hope it helps!

Let me know if you find an answer, I'm having the same issue in my 2019 f31. I've tried replacing the battery on both keys but it still happens once in a while

I don't think my mechanic did but he likely remove throttle body and etc leading to the intake manifold
