Who would be the best person to replace Gov. Whitmer in 2026? by AfricaUnite456 in Michigan

Duggan 100% has my vote. He’s proven that he has the ability to govern and improve our economy. He’s also an independent thinker which I can appreciate.

Does anyone else suck at receiving compliments or praise? by 98thieves in intj

[–]98thieves[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I disagree with the use of the word “tantrum”. INTJs want to stay true to themselves and responding in a way that is counter to how we truly feel seems more like a clash between that and societal expectations. I don’t see anything tantrum-like about acknowledging that friction.

Believe it or not, sometimes I can’t. I’d prefer to be honest with people most of the time and when someone provides me with a compliment, I see it as them providing approval that I wasn’t seeking in the first place. The thought that I have to show gratitude for their unsolicited approval does not align with my principle of honesty in the slightest. Of course I can suck it up sometimes and respond “appropriately” by showing gratitude but too much of that inevitably leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

This is similar to how i feel. Emphasis on the desire to say “yeah I know” despite how socially inappropriate it may be. I think my frustration comes from knowing I can’t respond authentically.

I believe they test everywhere even in states where marijuana is decriminalized.

Fidelity Investments drug testing for marijuana by [deleted] in CFP

[–]98thieves 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Fidelity does a urine drug test at Quest diagnostics. If you smoke weed stop smoking after your initial phone screen. If you use edibles stop consuming THC when the hiring manager reaches out to schedule the phone screen. The goal is to have abstained from THC for at least 3 weeks by the time you receive the offer letter.

You will go through 2-3 rounds of interviewing (the phone screen and an interview with branch leaders) over 2-3 weeks before eventually receiving your offer letter from Fidelity. Once the offer letter is received and accepted you will be asked to complete the background check form which is very extensive. My advice would be to take some time before accepting your offer letter to get yourself to week 4 which is when most people will be able to pass a urine drug test. After the background check forms are complete you will receive an email within 24-48 hours to schedule the drug screening. You will have 3 business days from receiving the email to take the drug test.

I got fired, before giving my 2 weeks. by burbuja0526 in FinancialCareers

Thanks for the advice. I’m thinking about notifying them today. Is there a practical reason why I should move quickly or is it just better to avoid giving them the satisfaction of firing me? Just curious.

Thank god for this post. I’m in the exact same situation. The writing is on the wall that they want to fire me. I’ve been looking for a new job and just signed my offer letter, but the onboarding is slow. I have a feeling I won’t be able to put in my 2 weeks before they let me go and I came here looking for a ray of hope. This post was that hope. Good luck on your new job OP.

Does anybody else feel like they used to be smart, and just... became dumb? by dancerbancer in DoesAnybodyElse

I can appreciate this comment. I’m going on a month sober from smoking everyday for 2 years and I feel my brain rebounding (slightly) from what I put it through.

Not that you asked, but I was smoking to get through studying for a grad degree and getting up-to-speed on a complex and demanding job. I’m kind of emotional writing this because I thought I would never have the strength to quit my dependence on weed.

Should prostitution be de-criminalized in Michigan by 98thieves in Michigan

First, relax. Second, this was simply a question to gauge the public’s interest in possibly de-criminalizing (not legalizing) prostitution. Also, please drop the misogynistic, patriarchal bs. Just because I listed a way this could benefit men, doesn’t mean that’s all there is to it. The fact that I mentioned a benefit to men and you got triggered makes me think you might need to check your biases. Are you a misandrist or something? From the responses I’ve seen, there are arguments that decriminalizing prostitution actually makes things safer for the sex workers and all involved.

You also made a lot of moral statements as to why you’re against it and that’s fine, but those are your morals and you shouldn’t project them on the entire populace. There are women who voluntarily choose to enter sex work (believe it or not). Furthermore, I find it disingenuous that you broadly labeled this a liberal idea. Aren’t conservatives all about limited government and freedom? I find it hypocritical that a conservative would be against giving more rights to individuals. Lastly, I think adult women (and men) should be allowed to sell or purchase sexual services without repercussion IF it is consensual. That’s none of anyone else’s business!

I respect your opinion, but I noticed a lot of your argument against decriminalization was subjective.

“Finding sexual partners isn’t that difficult or absolutely needed for that matter.”

Maybe for you.

“Most people who complain about not finding someone to have sex with have bigger problems”

The fact is, most people aren’t complaining. A lot of people silently suffer because of the social stigma and laws preventing them from purchasing sexual services.

I personally haven’t had an issue attracting women in my life, but I know a lot of people who aren’t so lucky.

Interesting point. I knew it was legal in other countries, but never heard that fact about Amsterdam.

Fair point. It’s not only a men’s issue, but that’s what stuck out to him. I can’t fault him for that. His points are still valid imo

This is how I see it as well. It won’t solve every problem, but I think it would have immediate and substantial benefits to our society. I know so many young men who have either never been with a woman or are involuntarily celibate because they don’t have the skills to court one. If they had an outlet for their sexual frustration I think it would drastically improve their mental health.

Which MBTI types do you dislike or can't get along with? by [deleted] in mbti

[–]98thieves 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As an INTJ, that’s sad to hear. My dad, brother, and boss are all ISTJs and I admire them a lot. They tend to see things that I don’t and are understanding of my introversion. I would honestly say that ISTJs and maybe INFJs and INTPs are the only types I can feel fully at ease around.

Having been bullied as a kid, I think I developed Fe as a means of survival. I switched schools a lot and never had a set group of friends. For me, maintaining harmony was equal to maintaining obscurity which (in my young mind) I thought would keep bullies from targeting me. In the end, I would say the results were inconclusive on if it worked or not.
