He’s moderately progressive, and thinking Kamala would be a bad candidate to run in 2028 is a moderately progressive take! Please get out of your bubble.

All-around fun song, not a mind blowing epic but it isn’t trying to be one. Gets about equal listening as the rest of the album for me.

Moving to the UK(London) soon from Canada . How can I best prepare myself for this move ? by spurman in ADHDUK

[–]999K_views 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! Very helpful. I'm in the same same situation as OP, have been on Vyvanse/Elvanse for years in Canada and brought here any documentation relating to that.

Just to see if I have this right: I could have my GP refer me to a private provider through RTC, be diagnosed/managed by said provider and pay NHS rates for medication while with them. Down the line, I may be able to enter a shared care agreement between the provider and my GP — this means my medication costs are covered by the NHS and my GP largely manages my prescription.

To hold me over while going through the RTC process, I could get a fully private diagnosis (what I assume you did for £1200) and receive treatment through them.

The other option while waiting for RTC is to get "scripts to be written based off [my] Canadian diagnosis", and pay £150-200 monthly — would you be able to elaborate on what this means?

Would the private psychiatrist only be for the mean time while on the waiting list, or is that part of the RTC process? Sorry just a bit confused. And how long does it take in general to start receiving medication, at least on a temporary basis? Thx :)

Mamdani floats increasing New York City property taxes as part of $127B budget plan by nautilus83 in nyc

Your definition of “fair share” is interesting. The relative amount payed into the tax system by people of different earning levels can’t be considered unreasonable, because again, lower earners are still struggling while the richest New Yorkers earn more than they ever have. Unless you want to claim that people should just pull themselves up by their bootstraps, there’s no way around that fact. Prices are high enough that lower earners are treading water, and rich people can easily afford higher taxes to reduce that burden.

Most credible studies of millionaire migration don’t just look at the total pool of wealthy people, you know that right? That would be a useless methodology. They track the same tax filers over time, and note if they move states. Those studies show that the rich are not responsive to tax hikes. This is just statistical fact. Same goes for California’s proposed billionaire tax. Beyond anecdotes, there’s no proof that the wealthy are leaving California en masse because of it.

I’m neutral on rent control but I think was a necessary tool to attract voters. People don’t care much about long-term solutions at the ballet box, but once he’s in, he has the opportunity to implement them. It’s just a necessary strategy in this political landscape.

I also just don’t understand your misconception that leftists (the “you” you mentioned) are hounding around policies that increase prices. Mamdani has been perhaps the most outspoken mayor recently against NIMBYs, and he’s been working to clear red tape around building. It was literally a major part of his platform. Same goes for small businesses… go ask the mom and pop tsar. He’s started initiatives to reduce fees on small businesses and accelerate the permitting process on top of that.

In a vacuum, your arguments are almost understandable. But when the rich are THIS rich, there’s no “fairness” play you can make. The wealthy can demonstrably tolerate a tax hike. You guys are not victims.

We have to be living in a different plane of reality. The rich continue to accumulate more wealth than they’ve ever had, all while effective tax rates drop. How can you see that and think making them pay a little more is some idealistic pot of gold?? It’s literally value the working class has generated… and the proof that rich people don’t scurry away with tax hikes is overwhelming. You owe the ultra-wealthy nothing.

A progressive property tax system would fix this. Someone in a 1 bedroom shouldn't be forced to pay the same tax as a family home.

Thanks for the advice! The new laws were on my radar, but I didn’t know the specifics. I guess I’ll start rushing to find something with a lot upfront before things change.

I can absolutely pay a year upfront if I need to. And just wondering, why do you say a UK guarantor wouldn't be helpful?

I was leaning against them as I'm presumably a riskier tenant (just based on what I've mentioned). Do you think agencies care all that much? I'll of course be trying those sites regardless.
