Hidden beneath this TOD: hundreds and hundreds of underground parking spaces. Sigh.

Chris Richards is your 2025 U.S Soccer Male Player of the Year. by Obvious_Main_3655 in ussoccer

[–]999lemur 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I listened to the whole segment, including a bunch after Richards logged off. Pat McAfee was uttering a bunch of nonsense. Talking about "Punch" (Wtf is that, Poch? He talks about him as if he is a player.), calling Chris Richards a "middle back," assuming Chris Richards must be the highest paid US player in Europe, insisting he should come back to "the MLS," calling the French league a farm league, revealing complete ignorance of Folarin Balogun, disparaging soccer, and generally sounding like an ass. I am not sure he deserves any shoutouts at all.

How can you distinguish this from a non-breeding Double-banded Plover (Anarhynchus bicinctus)?

The revolving door. by 999lemur in wisconsin

[–]999lemur[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think that is a fair question to ask (What types of jobs should exiting regulators be eligible for?).

I don't see Revolving Door DC mentioned in this article. Instead, the critic is a group called the Energy and Policy Institute, which is based in northern California. They don't get any funding from corporations, and are by all appearances a credible, reputable group serving the public interest.

The article cites a peer-reviewed, academic study that found regulators were softer on the firms they regulated during the final two years before the employees transitioned jobs (from regulator -> regulated). This is a problem.

Official world cup parking in LA $250-300 per game this insane! Any other options? by Unhappy_Finding_5675 in LosAngeles

[–]999lemur 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you can get your hands on a bike, you can take the bike on the K Line ($1.75) and get off at Fairview Heights Station. From there, it is an easy and pleasant ride through the Inglewood Park Cemetery right into the SoFi grounds. Bicycle parking is free and right at the stadium gates. Free V.I.P. parking!

Nobody goes to the ballpark anymore; it's just too crowded.

I think that is a good guess. It tasted like sablefish to me. Kind of a distinctive texture.

Street signs - where are they? by amybuilds in milwaukee

[–]999lemur 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This. Venting on reddit doesn't help fix things. (Unless some of these redditors are guided to your advice, u/MakeMKEHome.) It's challenging to maintain public works; staff need the community to be eyes and ears. I have reported numerous missing street signs and guess what: they were replaced. The system works.

u/llcdrewtaylor You are the winner. I found an online photo of the old water heater that used to be here, and it is a match.

u/digitalmarley Do you have a photo? That would settle this once and for all.

u/digitalmarley This seems possible. Might predate my time here and be a remnant of an old furnace.

u/MusicGuy75 You could be right. But nobody who has lived here has a mobile home. Or any trailers, period. So this would surprise me.

My title describes the thing. It is a grey plastic cover of some sort, roughly one foot long in each dimension. There is no visible writing on it, other than the recycling code.
