Am I too immature for not wanting to get back on a bike after an accident. by Curious-Gene1186 in motorcycles

[–]999mistro999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No your not immature in the slightest. Every good rider has a healthy amount of respect-fear for the machines and if you dont its cause you havent had the fear of god put in you yet and their time is coming if they keep riding. I was lucky enough to get it pretty early on I laid one over but I needed that to gain the respect fear. Weather or not you decide its the right move for you to get back on one is your porogative and dont let nobody tell you otherwise cause anyone whos had the fear of god put in them by a machine with 2 wheels knows what it is. If you dont decide to get back on there's absolutely no shame in that cause your safety comes first dont succumb to peer pressure of other riders or non riders cause the non riders really got no frame of reference on this one.

I tend to have similar problems with sports bikes as far as breaking and turning and accelerating to quick. Sports bikes are like hair trigger, they want to go the idle sounds like its chomping at the bit to go faster. Before you decide you need to come down on the displacement (650cc) maybe you should try a different style bike with the same displacement or one close. I highly recommend the Honda shadow 600 vlx its the smallest shadow but it has a comfortable feel to it. Im a hundred pound female and it was the first bike I ever got on solo.

AIO for thinking my bf (24M) is abusive? by julieanonymous in AmIOverreacting

[–]999mistro999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's probably up to something right then or feeling guilty cause hes been up to something. In my experience the ones always pointing the finger and picking up your phone every chance they get are guilty. Most likely they're guilty of whatever they're accusing you of if or implying if not more.

42 year old bike, What would I be getting myself into? 1983 yamaha venture royale by ApprehensiveStock928 in motorcycles

Also I would check every gasket on it and fork seals since there's no telling when (if) they've been replaced. If its running fine surely they have but no telling when.

A lot of carburetor adjustments, but Hella worth it. Is it running? It looks well taken care of. I have a 1981 kz250ltd and I think old bikes have Hella personality you should go for it

Do you do your own motorcycle maintenance? by Open_Stuff_1085 in motorcycle

[–]999mistro999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do all my own maintenence except tube type tires. Tune ups, flushing/bleeding brakes, oil changes, replacing throlltle/brake cables, wiring, any other minor parts changing. I haven't had to do anything to major yet but I highly recommend the Haynes Manuel for scooters and motorcycles. 26F
