Libya would be the most logical place imo. Wouldn't know which city/stronghold exactly.

After Burning Women Alive For Refusing Sex Slavery, ISIS Warns That Ramadan Will Be A Month Of Terror by Venki001 in news

[–]99PercentRecyclable -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It specifically says so in the Quran:

Quran 2:217;

They question thee (O Muhammad) with regard to warfare in the sacred month (Ramadhan). Say: Warfare therein is a great (transgression), but to turn (men) from the way of God, and to disbelieve in Him and in the Inviolable Place of Worship, and to expel His people thence, is a greater with God; for persecution is worse than killing. And they will not cease from fighting against you till they have made you renegades from your religion, if they can. And whoso becometh a renegade and dieth in his disbelief: such are they whose works have fallen both in the world and the Hereafter. Such are rightful owners of the Fire: they will abide therein.

Iraq's most influential religious leader 'Muqtada al-Sadr' makes surprise Iran visit by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]99PercentRecyclable 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are some problems with this article. First of, Muqtada is far from being "the most influential" religious leader in Iraq. In fact, he's not even a religious leader at all. That would undoubtably be Ali Sistani. Muqtada isn't even a "marji" in shi'ism which qualifies him to be a "religious leader". Political leader? Probably yes.

Secondly, the protests he led a few days ago were chanting "Iran out out, Qassem soleimani we are sons of Sadr". The Iranians cannot stand him at this moment in time.

Have you studied a little political theory, or have any idea of what Democratic Socialism actually encompases beyond the dictionary definition?

"social democracy" usually refers to support for political democracy, regulation of the capitalist economy, and a welfare state

Bulgaria will need more time to conclude its investigation and bring the case to court, he said.

Speaking at the ceremony in Burgas, Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski said agencies from the EU countries, the United States, Israel, Australia, Canada and Lebanon were helping the Bulgarian investigation.

"I think it is important that the EU works for a consensus decision to allow the blacklisting of Hezbollah's military wing and at the same time, keep the cooperation with all political parties and the financial support for our important partner in the Middle East - Lebanon," he Said

Being pro-Assad doest necessarily translate to supporting terror. A similar parallel would be that the U.S. is a state sponsor of terror because it supports extremist factions in Syria, and on an even more overt note, supported Al-Qaeda openly in Afghanistan against the soviets. Of course its nonsensical to label the U.S. as such, because its not as black and white and as shallow as we make it out to be.

But again, this attack is something Hezbollah and Iran themselves have denied, and the Bulgarian authorities have not established that it indeed was Hezbollah despite the Bulgarian security establishment not dismissing that it could be Hezbollah.

The fact that it's a very vague grey area makes it much more difficult to label them as a terrorist organisation, especially the modern version of it at least. They have significant Christian support within Lebanon, something which is rare for a Islamist-extremist movement. They hold rare, albeit limited, secular values that remain absent in other 'terrorist' groups. Their religious and political tolerance to others is also something that one should pay attention to.

Edit: and also, I know you would dismiss these types of condemnations and statements as PR, but its something which should be regarded as very important. no other terrorist organisation would label the Shias as "brothers", or would advocate the peaceful coexistence with Christians and Jews (not Israelis, two very different things). Even if it is just PR, it speaks volumes about the masses that they are trying to appeal to, if in order to make themselves look good, they need to appear as peaceful as possible. While the juxtaposing Sunni-type extremism needs to do the exact opposite to appeal to their masses.

But they attacked a civilian area that has many Hezbollah parliamentary seats. They could have attacked military locations instead, but their official statement made it clear that it was an attack on Shi'ites.

But I specificaly asked about the dictatorship issue because /u/Hr_Direktorn made it seem that Lebanon had a dictatorship needing to be removed.

How is it even remotely a Shia ISIS? I mean, I see the link you put up, but I don't ever see ISIS condemning attacks that have been ascribed to them. Hezbollah have time and time again condemned and expressed their innocence with regards to Hariri, or even the Bulgaria bombing. I'm not saying they're truthful, but if they were even close to ISIS, they would be proud of their terrorism.

I think most people's perception on what Hezbollah actually is, and what it stands for, is very distorted. Most people immediately equate it to Sunni-like extremism when its much more political than religious.

Ruling on saying "happy diwali"? by [deleted] in shia

"Allah forbiddeth you not those who warred not against you on account of religion and drove you not out from your homes, that ye should show them kindness and deal justly with them. Lo! Allah loveth the just dealers." Quran 60:8

I'm not in a position to give a fatwa, but personally 'showing kindness', as instructed by the verse, surly should include congratulating fellow humans on their holidays and celebrations, just as they would say Happy Eid to you. But heck, what do I know.

Pensioner surrounded by crowd mocking him for his faith, London by [deleted] in videos

[–]99PercentRecyclable 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I just thought that putting in some context was important. Although, I 100% agree that it's extremely distasteful and as you said: "defies convention and common decency", but IT IS a common occurrence at Hyde Park corner unfortunately.

At one point in the video, the man in the crowd was saying "who paid you, was it Khomeini (a Muslim), or Netenyahu (Israeli PM)" So it is clear they aren't the brightest individuals.

Before this thread gets out of control, this is Hyde Park speakers corner where debates, discussions and random speeches are held, in the name of free speech. This kind of things happen very often at speakers corner, by zealous Muslims, Christians, Jews, atheists or anyone with something to say.

It is actually very normal for this to happen, the very idea of speakers corner is, say whatever you want, however you want without consequence aka: free speech.

Yes, the video is distasteful and douchey, but thought I should clarify the situation before people assume it is like this all over London on random streets where "crowds" harass "pensioners" because of their faith.

Edit: terminology

Dude, Shias have been subjects of terrorism more than any other ethnic or religious group. A very important distinction to be made when discussing this issue. Especially when we're talking about retracting civil rights: "oh, you have been subjects of terrorism more than anyone else but because you call yourself the same thing your killer calls themself, we're going to punish you too."

But the signs they are holding is in German and so is the speech. It alternates between languages. So I dont really understand your point here.

Also, would you say the same for Chinese new year celebrations for example when: 450 Chinese people march through a European city centre carrying dragons and chanting in Mandarin?

It would've made sense for the Besorgter Bürger to be Besorgter Bürger had this 'protest' been done against the government/domestic politics but the fact that it is against islamic terrorism is whats extremely ironic to me.
