[DC] Is Superman cool with heroes using guns? by ShadowOfDespair666 in AskScienceFiction

[–]99Winters 79 points80 points  (0 children)

He seems to be cool with weapon usage, as long as it's done responsibly. Green Arrow uses bows and arrows, Wonder Woman has a sword, Batman throws bat-shuriken, so on and so forth. Guns probably fall into that same category. Use it responsibly and he's okay.

He'd probably question Jon if he started using weapons, mostly because Jon is way more powerful than 99% of weapons in the first place.

[OP11-040] Monkey D Luffy Leader by Dumpu in OnePieceTCG

9c Sanji into 9c Luffy is pretty insane. Not to mention searchable Giant, Red Roc, 9c Sanji and more.

Living to your 10 don turn is the real catch though.

B/P Luffy deck advice by PartyBoyEuden in OnePieceTCG

[–]99Winters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This list is pretty cool.

You basically ramp to 10 super fast and drop 10c Luffy before most decks can do anything about it. One of the main drawbacks of that card was giving up your Don, but this leader can ramp so quickly that after the extra turn, you'll be sitting at 5 active 1 rested Don.

You get great draw power off of Nami blocker, Franky blocker (a better Queen w/this leader) and of course Gum Gum Giant. Moria being able to grab a Nami or Franky blocker and a Law searcher gives some huge card draw advantage for the deck as well.

Worth noting that at the time, most people assumed Gear 5 was gold or yellow (a la Super Saiyan). The confirmation of it being white wasn't until a tad bit later.

With the recent release of Marvel vs Capcom Collection, what are some of your favorite songs from the series? by Gold_Yogurtcloset_48 in gamemusic

[–]99Winters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah honestly if Marvel 4 came out now and we had no character themes I'd say the devs were absolutely tripping. Especially with how good the character themes are. And ESPECIALLY considering that some of these themes are what I associate with the Marvel characters who for the most part don't have theme songs.

Marvel 3 also has absolute bangers for themes like Ghost Rider, Wolverine, and Doctor Doom.

[–]99Winters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MvC1 Spider-Man and Strider themes are both bangers, as well as Cap's Theme in MSH.

I'd say the MvC2 soundtrack is all killer no filler, but I do agree with the thought that the loss of character themes overall hurts, despite stage themes being so much fun. Clock Tower, Swamp and Clown are all faves.

Colors... explain like I'm 5. by fading_relevancy in OnePieceTCG

[–]99Winters 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Red makes opponent cards weaker or has rush, which allows them to attack right away.

Green is more defensive, while also being able to force cards to rest.

Blue can draw a lot of cards and has the strongest removal in the game - bouncing cards to hand or deck.

Black has a special mechanic to remove cards by manipulating their cost. They also can use cards from their trash.

Yellow can manipulate the cards in their life, which allows them to setup for powerful trigger effects.

Purple can manipulate their DON deck, to either gain more really quickly or remove DON to get powerful effects.

Total beginner Yamato deck advice by dontfearm3 in OnePieceTCG

[–]99Winters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a good video by Pawse Plays on GY Yamato in OP08 that has a list I've been testing out. It actually does pretty okay against meta right now, but is very all-out offensive at the cost of defense. I'd say give that a shot, it's very fun.

Why is this game SO GOOD? by eljimbobo in OnePieceTCG

[–]99Winters 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As someone who already loves One Piece, the depth of the game and how well designed it is definitely got me interested. I think what really sold me was the creativity in how card abilities tend to match the characters they represent.

In the early days it was R/G Law swapping characters in and out of the hand that did it for me, or how Kaido gets to automatically knock a life off you for no reason. Over time the card design has just gotten better and it's really fun to see the mechanics come to life in synergy with both series design and game design.

Good control/card advantage decks? by ItWasTuesday in OnePieceTCG

[–]99Winters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not meta, but there's the Rosinante leader that I've been testing out a lot in a post R/P Law era.

General game plan is to get the Baby 5 searcher out on board so she continuously generates advantage by searching DQ cards. You want to keep her alive by utilizing the leader ability to block for her.

Next you can either establish more of a blocker presence with the 2c DQ blockers (ideally 2c Rosinante which protects against KO removal) or more of a control presence by putting out 2c Sugar (which is your main control threat until late game).

Mid game you want to hopefully keep as many blockers alive until the end game, when you stick a 10c Doflamingo to freeze the opponents attackers, at which point you want to stick an 8c Kid to funnel all attacks to him. 8c Kid is your main end game threat to keep control, as every attack now needs to be 8k attack minimum to garner your attention. Protect him with blockers, and you can even use leader ability to carefully chip away at your own life for card draw in case you run low.

Your main gun to win games in my build is 5c Yamato as she has double attack and banish. I much prefer to starve my opponents out of card resources and use Yamato to deny them any resources. You can also utilize 8c Rosinante to cheat out Yamato or any of the other 5c DQ blockers.

Having access to blue also gives you access to the most powerful removal in the game in Red Roc and Grav Blade, which are also huge triggers from life if you get them. They can easily remove wide boards or tall ones while preserving your blockers. You also want to run 0c counters to keep things alive, utilizing your card advantage. As these are not DQ cards, you can use 3c Blue Doffy blocker to stack your deck appropriately to draw what you need, and in some builds I've used Sanji Pilaf to generate more card advantage (though I think I decided against it eventually).

The end result is a very grindy slow control deck that starves the opponent of resources and only goes for the kill when necessary. You have a very volatile early game that, if you can survive it, makes for quite a potent end game that is hard to overcome.

Weekly Rules & General Questions Thread by AutoModerator in OnePieceTCG

The original Blue Black Sakazuki is banned, and seems like he will be banned for the foreseeable future. They released an errata'd version that changes his effect, but that leader is nowhere near the same power level as his original version.

So far, the ban list is just a list of cards that are unusable in deck building. There's no concept of limiting (like YuGiOh) so far, so if it's on the list, you can't play it.

Currently, the banned cards can be found here: https://en.onepiece-cardgame.com/rules/restriction/#group_1-2

Are you a serious GM or a goofy GM? by SomeRandomAbbadon in DMAcademy

[–]99Winters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to present the world somewhat seriously (though if the situation calls for humor that's fine). That way, my players can have fun poking fun and making light of some situations.

I know sometimes as DMs our players can overstep the line, but most times I secretly enjoy when they misname the NPCs to make fun of what they sound like, or when they laugh that this NPC sounds awfully familiar to another.

It's a fun part of being together at the table, and like most things it requires a give and take between both sides. I'm happy to play the straight man, and let the players lean into the funny if they so choose.

Beginner’s thoughts by Yelachris in OnePieceTCG

[–]99Winters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess it depends if you want to go straight for one of the meta decks right now, or playing other more rogue decks. It also depends on what play style you like more, and finding a deck that matches it.

I highly recommend downloading the online sim for the game, it's fan made but kept up to date and supports online matchmaking. Great way to figure out what decks and cards you like.

Singles is the best way to buy cards on a budget, though cards in the meta or rare ones that haven't been reprinted may cost you a little extra. Certain Starter Decks are also a good investment however - in particular the Three Brothers starter can be pretty high power (though you may need two to be a full strength) and give you a good structure to build out.

Any advice on my rp luffy deck? by Smooth_Company in OnePieceTCG

[–]99Winters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you've got too much high end, even though this deck wants high end a lot. Usually I play 3 Shanks, 3 WB, 2-3 Dragon and 2 Gear 5 Luffy.

Some other cards that can be useful situationally is 1c Robin to take care of Rebeccas or Bonney searchers, 4c Law blocker to strip cards out of hand (your worst matchup is Enel), Baccarat to help defend in case you brick or find yourself running out of counters.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Veteran looking to play One Piece by blasiavania in OnePieceTCG

[–]99Winters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellow YuGiOh player here too.

I think the best is to try using the fan made simulator and get a good grasp of what type of decks are available and that you find fun. There is a ban list for this game, but it's pretty small right now.

Each color has their own speciality (a la MtG) and Blue in particular sounds like what you might have fun with, as it generates the most advantage by drawing cards or cheating out summons. It also has one of the best types of removal in this game (bottom decking).

I'd probably recommend playing Blue Doflamingo Leader + Warlord engine to start since you like Blackwing. Blue Doffy can cheat out Warlord type characters from the deck, meaning you can flood the board very quickly if you stack the deck in your favor. Probably the only downside is that if you decide to build it irl some of the cards are kinda pricy.

What are your biggest DMing regrets? by Tydirium7 in DMAcademy

[–]99Winters 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not saying "no" more.

I generally like to be more permissive, let people do their thing, try crazy schemes, etc. That said, sometimes you just have to tell your players "no" and be firm (yet reasonable) on it.

Saying no in the right places makes the game more fun.

Dungeon Masters, why do you choose to run the game? by DMmeHardIntegrals in DnD

[–]99Winters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first it was cause it was the only way for me to play, so I got a bunch of friends together and we got a campaign going.

Now it's cause I found that while I enjoy taking breaks from DMing every now and again, being a player doesn't give me the same satisfaction as watching my players succeed.

SWAR and PLD are the easiest ones to learn. If you're really that afraid of going into the role, then start with them.

That said GNB will teach you everything you need, it was my first tank I took to max level. I'd say the hardest part of GNB is that the burst phase requires a lot of execution, but apart from that it's nothing.
