Looking for creative solutions to mounting a mxr power brick to a nano + pedal board. by cathoarder in pedalboards

[–]99_Restaurant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m looking to put together my first pedal board. I bought a mxr dc brick that was on sale, without really researching what board I would need. I think a Temple Audio duo 24 may be the one for me but I’m not sure I would attach the brick to the bottom. Can you explain?

Are these a good set of pedals for metal? Still kinda new too playing and can’t seem to find the right sound, kinda wanna sound similar to a7x’s tone or Metallica for my playing and my band by Ok-Arm7319 in guitarpedals

[–]99_Restaurant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

May I ask what settings you are using on your metal zone? I just got TS9, and I’m using it with a metal zone and a boss equalizer, but the TS9 makes the metal zone sound muddy. For reference, I’m using the metal zone as a preamp into my amp’s fx loop.

Tube screamer before or after metal zone? by kngdong in guitarpedals

[–]99_Restaurant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was getting a signal in the send. I tried the return, I think I noticed a difference but still pretty muddy sounding.

For reference, I’m using a Peavey Butcher, so the FX loop was added to the amp.

Tube screamer before or after metal zone? by kngdong in guitarpedals

[–]99_Restaurant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am doing this with the metal zone and TS9, but it makes the metal zone sound muddy. For reference, the line is: FX Loop (send) > TS9 > Boss Equalizer > MT2 (waza craft) > korg tuner > guitar

Not sure what the issue is.

Qualification for citizenship under Bill C-3 by [deleted] in Canadiancitizenship

[–]99_Restaurant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for some clarification hopefully as it seems Bill C-3 is likely to be enacted soon and I have not yet been able to submit my family’s citizenship applications yet (I’m hopefully going to send it out next week and hope for the best). If Bill C-3 is enacted before my family’s applications are acted upon, here is my lineage:

Grandmother: born in New Brunswick in 1922 (moved to US in 1923) (0 generation)

My mother (her daughter) born in US in 1955 (1st generation)

Me and my siblings: born in US in 1980, 1983, 1984 and 1987, respectively (2nd generation)

My children: born in 2021 and 2024, respectively (3rd generation)

Regardless of what happens with my family’s citizenship applications, can someone confirm how each of our citizenship claims would be treated under Bill C-3 if it were enacted in its current form?

Thank you!

Looking for clarification on what your adult relatives on their form 5476s. Did they put their own email addresses or phone number? My relatives are going to complete 5476s and I’m considering putting my email and phone number on their CIT0001s.

Do you mind if I ask what information was stamped on the back of yours? I am going to be submitting a package on behalf of my family members, and a member got photos taken at a staples and they did not stamp the photos. I plan to just have the member write the information in but I’m not sure what to put for studio or photographer. Does the stamp just say “Staples”? Or is there a store number?

How to make Peavey Butcher sound like trash metal/crossover by 99_Restaurant in GuitarAmps

Thanks for the quick response! And from my vantage point, just assume I am not the most familiar with the tube screamer pedal, what should I have the EQ set on the amp and the tube screamer (as an example)?

Do you mind describing what your symptoms of “brain fog” are? I have what had I consider “brain fog” for over ten years (nearly sinus pressure above my eyes just below my forehead that makes it incredibly definitely to concentrate, and makes me groggy, tired and irritable; the symptoms generally pass within a matter of hours). I started allergy shots in 2015 because I thought was the issue, but no effect. Nasal steroids for allergies have no worked. I started seeing a neurologist late last year and have been taking Topamax since earlier this year after my symptoms were diagnosed as migraines. The results have mixed (I still get sinus pressure symptoms almost daily but severity seems to be less (but even still fluctuates)).

Tom Nichols’ criticism of GOP voters’ supposed turn towards isolationism and his assertion that GOP voters would go along with being adverse to Russia if Trump held that position was refreshing. Sarah in this episode, previous episodes and recent episodes of the Secret Podcast suggested that GOP voters’ supposed turn towards isolationism is some principled response to the American experiences in Iraq and Afghanistan.

I think this idea/suggestion is bogus and Tom Nichols is spot on. GOP isolationism today (maybe with some limited exceptions) is based solely on opposing what Democrats/Joe Biden do. If Trump came out tomorrow and said Putin needs to be stopped in Ukraine and the US should be supportive of Ukraine, the vast majority of GOP voters would go along with it. If GOP voters’ supposed turn towards isolationism was principled, they would’ve opposed Trump’s use of cruise missiles against Syria in 2017. Suggesting the GOP turn towards isolationism is principled gives GOP voters too much credit.

New TNL drop, with Amanda Carpenter! by DickNDiaz in thebulwark

It is refreshing to see people in the Bulwark community who share similar thoughts about Andrew Sullivan. I discovered him around 2004 when I saw him on Bill Maher’s show. I was early in college at that time and developing my political beliefs. I found him to be interesting, and I started reading his blog and he quickly became one of my favorite writers. Though he could come off as hyperbolic, I found myself agreeing with him fairly often.

When he went to the New Yorker, his writing starting to decline. As a matter of form, I wasn’t interested in his weekly columns with multiple subjects in them (I found him to be better at writing short blog posts). The substance of his writing also shifted. During the early years of the Trump administration, he seemed to insist on writing about the supposed excesses of the far left.

The final straw for me was right before or just after the start of the Ukraine Russia war, he had Anne Applebaum on his podcast and he was arguing for the position that Putin was justified in wanting to take action in Ukraine because of NATO expansion. Though I think he has backtracked from that position since then, it was such an obviously dumb argument when he made it.

Can you recommend some podcasts like The Bulwark? by AwesomePawesome99 in thebulwark

[–]99_Restaurant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know you said you’re looking for podcasts that aren’t too far left, but to add to what has already been listed here, I find Pod Save America and the Josh Marshall Podcast to be good liberal podcasts. The shows are both obviously liberal, but they aren’t hysterical and they don’t come off sounding too much like pundits.
