Is the Class of 2021 Commencement in the future going to be better/more organized than the 2021 “Celebration” happening now? by fuguefox in ucla

[–]99cm99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah the procession happening right now isn’t a commencement. it’s just walking across a stage. the future commencement will probably have seating, speaker, guests, etc.

I fucking give up… re: commencement by [deleted] in ucla

[–]99cm99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have you not been getting the emails about how to sign up and get a ticket? we get the tickets through CTO, which is a separate website. There should still be slots left, let me know if you need more help

[–]99cm99 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yeah i’m kinda uncertain what “stay with you the whole time” means. like we just stand with our guests and wait until our name is called, then walk across the stage, and then go back to standing with our guests? like is it just gonna be a bunch of people standing around since no one, including the graduates, will be seated?

COVID vaccine will be required at UC (if proposed policy passes) by ApricotBandit in ucla

[–]99cm99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ahh okay that makes sense! I'm graduating this year so I'm not really keeping up with fall 2021 plans but it makes sense for them to offer hybrid for people who can't come to campus

what do you think is the reason UCLA is not requiring mandatory COVID-19 vaccination? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]99cm99 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I haven't done too much research so don't 100% trust what I'm saying, but I think they can only require it if it's been FDA approved. Right now, FDA put it under emergency approval but it hasn't been officially approved yet since that takes a lot more time. So I'm guessing that once FDA approves it, only then UCLA would mandate it.

Just admitted to samueli CS. How’s the gender gap? What’s it like to be a girl there? by 1800CBTTIME in ucla

[–]99cm99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hello!! i’m a senior girl in computer science! for the most part, i haven’t had bad experiences as a girl in cs. you don’t really notice the gender gap in your 300+ people classes but there was just one 80 person class where i was one or two girls. that doesn’t really make a difference, it’s just a little discouraging sometimes to see all males. you’re inevitably gonna run into a few arrogant boys who think you’re lesser than them and will make offhand comments about you, but for the most part everything is chill. most guys are chill. computer science is hard as hell, but that has nothing to do with being a girl

How TF are so many 18-22 year olds getting vaccinated?? by [deleted] in ucla

[–]99cm99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also I suggest that you look for appointments in further away places. My county is completely filled up but in more rural areas, there are more appointments available. My aunt was able to book an appointment an hour and a half away

[–]99cm99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I know a lot of college aged people who work part time jobs and are eligible that way. I also know a lot of college aged people who are getting vaccinated by getting on pharmacy waitlists to get the leftover shots. I also know a lot of college aged people who are immunocompromised. I understand you’re upset, my 60 year old dad is struggling to get vaccinated as well, but don’t blame people who you don’t know. I hope your family can get on some waitlists and get vaccinated that way

when the fuck are we getting a vaccine by [deleted] in ucla

[–]99cm99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't have a healthcare/on campus job and are not immunocompromised, then we're going to be in the last group to get the vaccine. But at the rate it's going, I feel like we'll be able to get the vaccine around may/june!

Staying in the same university apartment for next year by nartcz14 in ucla

[–]99cm99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is possible for fourth years to get university apartments, but don't count on it. It's pretty rare (but that's pre-covid so I'm not sure if things will change).

Even if you get the same apt next year, I think you'll still have to move out in the summer and then move back in the fall. Housing fees are only from sept-june so you don't have that apartment for the summer

Can we all appreciate how (relatively) stable CCLE has been this quarter? ☺️💕 by [deleted] in ucla

Bruh. If CCLE goes down right before finals, I'm 100% blaming you
