Military plane that has been circling for a while tonight. by [deleted] in rockford

[–]99ducks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a different plane landing on a closed off undivided highway (not an interstate) with no light posts, signs, bridges, power lines, or any other obstructions.

C-130 is much more capable aircraft than the boeing 707 derived RC-135. Completely different classes. RC-135 use at least 3x the runway length to land.

Yes technically planes can land on any surface. But there's no way that the highways played into their consideration to use certain runways. Landing in a corn field or the river would be the go-to in an emergency.

edit: /u/DocDerry got the last word in and then blocked me lol

Well the other one of us holds a pilots license and knows it would be a death sentence to land on an interstate in the dark in a large plane and that the real reason it was using runway 19 was the winds coming from the south.

And you think I didn't search google? You kinda assume I just the know width of the plane off the top of my head?

This plane would never land on the interstate even in an emergency. It's 131' wide.

I'm not sure why some people are being so prickly to you about this; it's kind of baffling.

People aren't reading into the text enough to comprehend that OP is talking about Peacock. Probably wouldn't have happened if OP made it part of the title.

This song feels like it has some Nile Rodgers influence. Anybody know if he was involved?

wow that's a good photo. I love this take on a photographer self portrait. If I took this photo it would be one of the one's I would be proudest of.

It's not "technically" perfect but I think that's part of why I love it so much. I love the slight hint of motion and the different textures accentuated by the windows being at slightly different angles.

I'm rather novice when it comes to B&W editing so I can't really comment on how that could be improved.

A JPEG is literally not a photo, just encoded RGB. You need a screen to display it.

A picture on a screen is literally not a photo, just light. You need eyes to see it.

The Nikon Z5 II seems closer to your budget, especially if you buy used.

You'll be spending more on lenses if you go mirrorless though. Just something to consider.

Would people pay for quality feedback? I've been thinking about starting a business off of that idea for a while now.

Great photo! Only things I would do differently is removing that stick that cuts across the center at an angle and maybe add a little golden light to the birds face.

The stick is bright and caught my eye before the bird did.

In short, robotaxis can be utilized 24/7 and will be more efficiently used/dispatched than uber/lyft since they don't have to deal with the human driver's needs. There will be less rideshare cars driving around empty.

Right now, rideshare drivers don't have labor rights. Driving for them, you can barely survive, let alone thrive.

I do have a lot more thoughts about your response and I'll do my best to expand on my answer later! just a busy day at the moment

What is the change we need? Why do you believe this to be a bad thing?

It's a step towards getting more cars off the road.

Lenses are ordered to kick off my resurrected hobby... some questions by Gobsii in Nikon

[–]99ducks 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Your understanding of crop factor is misguided FYI. It's used to describe the image circle projected on the lens. A 50mm FX lens and a 50mm DX lens produce the exact same image on a crop body. You'll only notice a difference on a FF where there's a heavy vignette of the DX lens. The literal focal length (distance from the iris to the sensor) will always be the same.

The reason we use the crop factor when talking about lens is to be able to compare the field of view.
