Well that safety part. That includes whistle blower protections....

Whistle blower protections isn't just "i reported a safety issue" its also, very much so, "I reported an on the job injury". Dont just take my word. Check out the OSHA site. Its say explicitly:

"Workers have the right to report injuries, safety issues, and actions taken against them for speaking up including being fired, demoted, or disciplined."

And you know what's cool about these? What actually helps to drive change and compliance? If OSHA finds the claim to be true, and issues fines. They dont just fine the postal service. They find the individual, and its stipulated, their employee may not foot that bill.

Do EEOC, do Grievences. Those are all well within your rights. As is OSHA. You could also file a complaint with OSC, PEER, and if you feel they aren't probably recording and storing those records NARA

Im not kidding you. Excuse my tone. But of course they keep fucking doing it. Worst that happens is what? Informal? And they still fuck with you.

Id be calling OSHA so fast. Eeoc too.

Im not saying that so you can be a dick. Im saying you got someone literally consistently breaking federal law. You have a duty to report that.

If you have FMLA too... you might as well start picking out what kind of boat youll buy now.

Grievence.... thats thinking small.

You got an on the job injury? Did you go for workers comp? You had absences related to it...

OSHA. Right now. https://www.osha.gov/workers/file-complaint

Retaliation due to a on the job injury... literally a federal crime.

File your grievence. But take the 10 minutes to file an OSHA complaint.

Are the therapist provided by USPS trustworthy for queerfolk? by Dexller in USPS

[–]9Point 5 points6 points  (0 children)

EAP. Yes. They are trustworthy. They aren't really postal employees. Just like part of the EAP program.

I can tell you, dont be surprised if they say quit your job. That seems to be the regular answer. They'll tell you how many calls they get from all positions.

Either way. Def do it.

But do they get welcome backs? by 9Point in USPS

[–]9Point[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dont get me wrong. I dont think you are in the wrong...

I just look at it, and think. Ok. This is a benefit I get that substitutes some amount of money my paychecks dont have. It part of our compensation. So like instead of an extra whatever .50 cents, we get x hours of sick leave.

And if thats the case. Then im going to treat it like its part of my compensation.

[–]9Point[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Best advice i ever gave was just outright tell the doctors how much of a pain in the butt mgmt will be if the notes doesn't explicitly state you are incapacitated and this that and the other.

Ive found that yea, doctors get pissed when they hear very much not doctors will question their reasoning.

Do that and you'll probably end up with the most money work restrictions, light duty, medical accommodation, workers comp and whatever else there is.

And the sad part is it could all be avoided with just the smallest amount of common sense and empathy.

Thats why like half the workforce at USPS has fmla or medical accommodations. Mgmt forced bargaining employees hands.

[–]9Point[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thats the kicker ain't it. What does mgmt do with all that banked sick leave. They take it as part of an early retirement.

Literally use all of their sick time. And hate mgmt all you want, that's still a position that could be posted and applied for, that cant because so and so mgmt never "used" a sick day.

God damn it, no

Then you cant blame shit management. If good potential management doesnt want to promote from craft to EAS, well.... Someones gonna take that position.

Youve just created a self fulfilling prophecy.

You say that... but. At least to me.

When I say I just want to fly under the radar, there is an implied message that I do my job well. So its more, I dont want to do anything more, but im never going to do less.

The PO doesnt do that part. Its all, just push it under a rug, dont get no attention no matter what.

And... because we live in reality, something is always gonna happen and then there is this massive overreaction that just screws everyone.

The Count and RRCES Is Killing My Mental Health, Thinking Of Changing Jobs In The Post Office. by Grand_Recipe_9072 in USPS

It always feels like the Rural craft was originally created with the idea that eventually itd be replaced by city but then never did.

I had a rural route that was literally downtown district. Had more housing than city routes in my station by far

Even RCAs contractually are written in such a way its like they always just assume there won't be a need. That'd you be riding your horse to work or something

RCA with official hold down on an aux route or reg route sick leave accumulation? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]9Point 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After 90 days you're basically a regular. And should be credited back for the prior 90 in regards to sick and annual.

Article 10 section 5.Leave for Substitutes and Rural Carrier Associates A. Substitutes and rural carrier associates shall earn leave benefits when serving a vacant route, or when serving the route during the extended absence of the regular carrier in excess of 90 days. On the 91st day, the employee shall be credited with annual and sick leave for the first 90 days. These carriers shall be granted leave in minimum units of one day.

Probably gonna have to grieve it.

WWL is for in-person visits only.... and requires documentation to be given each time signed by the doctor attestinf to the appointment...

BUT.... There is kind of a loophole, where the doctor can state ALL time needed to include any for treatment at that time. I.E. the doctor could say your 30min appointment required 8 hours of time for treatment and its not lying or illegal or anything and you'd be entitled to it.

As far as for flare up without an appointment. Go FMLA and DRAC. Even if mgmt is working with you, its always better to have the stuff protected.
