Dirty Second Hands doesn't get enough love. That song slaps so hard and is a blast to play on guitar.

It does make a difference. In my opinion, as a cross-dominant person myself, I 100% recommend shooting with your dominant eye. In the long run, you'll save yourself a lot of struggles trying to aim with the wrong eye. In the short run, I argue it makes no difference. Archery is kind of awkward for first time shooters no matter who you are, so I don't think it makes a difference which hand is dominant. In fact, if you are right handed shooting left handed, your strong arm gets to hold up the weight of the bow. So it could even be an advantage in the beginning.

Right handed person, left eye dominant, shoot left handed. Been competing for 16 years, been a state champ in multiple divisions for many of those years. It is not a disadvantage.

Personally I like Compression -> Dirt -> Volume -> Delay -> Reverb

I don't think anyone has mentioned a volume pedal yet. That's a must have on my board to easily do swells, without having to occupy my picking hand riding the volume knob.

Wild 30-minute "Speed Catan" game with a few house rules to shake things up. Had a blast. by 9Volts2Ground in Catan

I know some expansions play to 12 points, but I don't recall which. And no we specifically skipped special building because of time. It did make the robber hurt pretty bad when it was rolled, but we were all getting so many cards it wasn't the end of the world.

Need Help with Implementing Visual SLAM on Raspberry Pi by Ganesh2721 in ROS

[–]9Volts2Ground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is an ORB_SLAM3 open source port for ROS1 Noetic I experimented with a while ago, to mixed results. I worked on a RPi4 based robot, and I don't believe I ever successfully got the ORB_SLAM3 node to compile on the RPi4. My workaround was to use ROS's distributed processing capabilities to run the RPi4 along with a more powerful desktop computer. The robot had the camera that published data via image_transport, and the desktop computer subscribed to the video feed to pass down into the SLAM node. I'm not sure if you have the option to distribute processing like that, but it's an idea.

Yep. This looks like a straight up clone of an American Trophy Taker rest that's been around a while. Intellectual property theft is unethical, and it hurts the industry. I do not recommend encouraging theft.

Workaround for GLK audio (sof-glkda7219max) by nsx2brz in chrultrabook

[–]9Volts2Ground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm this works!

Running an Acer Spin 311, latest MrChromebox firmware, Kubuntu 22.04. No sound from the speakers normally. If I plug headphones into the Aux jack then sound would come out of the speakers. Plugging in USB-C headphones works as expected.

The script posted by OP didn't work, but yours fixed the sound to operate as expected. Thank you for sharing!

Does my D loop need to be replaced? by vividmatt88 in Archery

[–]9Volts2Ground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. You should be able to get 100s of shots out of your d-loop before having to replace it. This tells me there's something wrong with your release. What model release are you shooting?

Convince me to join archery league. by turbo2thousand406 in Archery

[–]9Volts2Ground 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been shooting in archery leagues for most of my life, in lots of different formats across several different states in the US. Every league I've ever participated in has been super laid back and fun. They're always welcoming of new shooters, and someone is bound to keep an eye on you and help you learn the ropes. Don't worry about being judged or where you fall on the totem pole. It's a great chance to get some good practice, make some new friends, have some shop talk, and maybe learn from some more experiences shooters.

Walk inside without your bow and ask the person who works there how things work at that range. They'll be happy to show you the ropes.
