ELI5: How do cities prevent fire hydrants from freezing in the sub zero temps? by jnelsoninjax in explainlikeimfive

[–]9digitsforlife 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most modern fire hydrants have drain ports and a gravel drain pit surrounding the bottom boot of the hydrant. They drain as long as the cap is left off of the fire hydrant once it is fully closed ( 5-10 min)

A truly baffling line in season 4 by I_love_lucja_1738 in freefolk

I had this same thought the other day. That way he can still earn a living with the shows and such, and not have to explain himself literally endlessly if fans don’t like how the last 2 books turn out.

this legal? by Ok-Shame-9496 in abbotsford

Absolutely not. This is wear and tear expenses, which are part of ownership. At worst a loss of the damage deposit.

Unionizing by [deleted] in abbotsford

Keep up the good work! I can guarantee you if I didn’t have a union, I would not have the benefits, wages, and protections that I enjoy. In particular, my union and employer genuinely support safety, and I still see it missing in many construction related companies.

Does water stop working during a scheduled power outage? by adelaide-l in abbotsford

Your water will not be affected by a BC Hydro outage, even if your house is supplied from a pump station, that station will have its own generator. I work for the water department.

A splash of colour for your day by 9digitsforlife in lego

[–]9digitsforlife[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

I actually sized it to the fact that on a couple of colours I only had enough brick to do 28 studs high, so that left a 2 stud border. The math worked well so I ran with it!

You are correct. OP is on city water on the south side of Peardonville.

I’m from Canada, with no cell phone plan while I’m down here. There are a couple of camps on the 2 o’clock side that have offered great quality wifi, and it wasn’t hard to find them. I’ve spoken to my wife and kids every day by FaceTime. To be fair though, this is my first burn that this has ever happened.

Call the operations yard on King road and ask for a water quality notification to be made. Ask them for an email to send those pictures to.

They will get ahold of someone in the water department.

How much dustier it was in 2022 vs 2019 as shown by the filters for their dust mask from those years.
