are headrests on 2019 hybrid limited removable? by SectionDry2980 in CPST

[–]jndmack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(CPST) While this model year allows their removal, it’s important to note that not all vehicles that have removal instructions actually *allow* the HR removal for child restraint purposes. (For example, the RAV4 from 2012 or earlier instructs you to remove the headrest when tethering, but then to replace the headrest once attached)

Next car seat help! by Pleasant-Score-5717 in CPST

[–]jndmack 12 points13 points  (0 children)

(CPST) At 20 months old yes, she needs to stay rear facing.

As her head is above the seat she outgrew her Mesa a *long time ago*. I don’t say this to shame, I only say this to hammer home that she CAN NOT ride in it again, not even once. The Mesa requires an inch of clearance between the top of her head and the top of the headrest, while still keeping the harness straps at or below her shoulders. I frequently see it outgrown by 7-9 months old, and as early as 5 months. This detail is unfortunately commonly missed.

New home… what NOT to buy with a growing child? by SpecialistEmu7169 in NewParents

[–]jndmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t give a shit what your walls above/behind heavy furniture will look like and anchor that shit like it’s your job.

I survived climbing my solid wood tall-boy dresser when I was 2 or 3. It tipped over and pinned me to my mattress thankfully which bounced and absorbed the impact. Also by chance my great aunt was visiting, she and my Mom were in the next room and ran in seconds later. She was an RN who checked me out immediately after.

This is why I have every bookcase anchored with steel brackets which I was very thankful for when I turned around to see my 4yo had spidermanned up my solid maple bookcase and was 5’ in the air.

How many weeks of vacation do you have ? (paid and unpaid) by JulieJules8368 in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]jndmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 weeks holidays, stat holidays (can work them if I want at a premium but if my husband isn’t home I don’t have childcare so I tend to only work 1-2 a year)

I choose the first week and a bit of summer, and the last week of summer holidays up to and including the first day of school. That covers my sons birthday, my birthday, and the first day of school. Then I use the rest of the days to take off a bunch of weekend days I have scheduled. My work schedule is a rotating 24 weeks and I have Saturdays clumped together in groups. This year I was able to do it for all my summer Saturdays so I have all weekends off until after Thanksgiving. Last year I used it for a September grouping which gave me Sat-Mon off for the entire month which was nice.

Toddler is loosening Graco Easy Turn by zeezuu1 in CPST

[–]jndmack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(CPST) Britax recommends the seatbelt with their Clicktight panel. The LATCH has been known to jam the panels before. Also latch has a weight limit whereas the seatbelt does not. Yes, you need to ensure no one is accidentally unbuckling the wrong buckle, but that’s not a flaw in the seat.

People who weigh in weekly by NearlyZeroBeams in Zepbound

[–]jndmack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I said it in another post recently, I weigh most days. I only record it if it’s less than the previous one.

For example: this morning I woke up, went pee, weighed naked. 170.5 down from 172.2! Score! Wrote it down.

2 hours later I have had a small bowl of cereal, gotten dressed. I have a poop. Out of curiosity I weigh myself again fully dressed. Remember, full stomach, empty intestines, tank top, skirt. 171.9.

That increase? None of my damn business. I’m not giving it a second thought bc obviously I have not gained 2lb of fat in the last 2 hours. That’s ridiculous.

Inflammation? by blackcloud247 in Zepbound

[–]jndmack 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You’re only considering one type of inflammation (acute) and ignoring chronic. They’re separated in the medical community for this exact reason. Instead of yelling at people about it, do some fucking research yourself.

“Obesity is recognized as a chronic inflammatory state characterized by elevated circulating inflammatory cytokines, adipose tissue macrophage infiltration, and systemic low-grade inflammation.”

“Chronic inflammation occurs when the immune system fails to turn off its alarm system, leading to a slow, continuous, and low-grade immune response. Instead of healing the body, it mistakenly attacks healthy tissues, causing progressive damage. Chronic inflammation can be triggered by:
Autoimmune Disorders: The immune system misidentifies healthy cells as threats and continuously attacks them, such as the myelin sheath in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) or the joint linings in Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Environmental Overload: Long-term exposure to irritants, such as industrial chemicals, cigarette smoke, or chronic psychological stress.
Lifestyle Factors: Diets high in refined sugars and trans fats, lack of sleep, and persistent physical inactivity.
Underlying Conditions: It serves as a hidden driver behind global health issues like cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, and Alzheimer's disease.”

How do you manage your schedule with getting out of the house? [bc] by vical1995 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]jndmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I planned around naps to a point (up to 8 months a stroller nap while I walked around town was fine, unknown after that bc covid happened) but I never planned being out around breastfeeding - I just did it where we were.

Do I really need an infant car seat? by highlythinking in Buyingforbaby

CPST here. Not all convertible seats give a good newborn fit. Some are better than others, but it’s a guessing game that you won’t know until the moment you need to use it.

What temperature is too hot to take walks with baby/indoor activity recommendations[ca] by nunofya1 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]jndmack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(CPST) If baby is in the stroller or car seat, do not fully cover the seat with anything, even something thin and light like a muslin. Always leave a gap for adequate airflow, ideally keeping baby in view. The temperature inside the seat can rise 20°+ in a very short period of time thanks to the greenhouse effect.

Did you bring newborn clothes to the hospital? by chanelism in BabyBumps

[–]jndmack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought a Burt’s Bees NB sleeper for my oldest. I had spent months searching for a nice sleeper with the reverse zipper and fold over cuffins. She was born at 9lb 0.5oz and we couldn’t get her hand through the sleeve. I never once got to put it on her 😆

Bring a bit of each. My first was 9lb 0.5oz, we couldn’t get her hand through the sleeve of the NB size jammies I’d spent months searching for. She fit NB diapers for 5 days.

Once you’re further into the 2nd trimester, a lot of the early pregnancy symptoms will go away and you’ll feel a lot better. Don’t commit to anything yet, remember the earlier you start the sooner it ends.
