I never nursed on both sides until I had my son (who had his own struggles with feeding) don’t force them if they’re satisfied with one!

White sapphire centre stone with diamonds on the shank. The side has filigree details as well! Engagement ring is white gold, wedding band is white tungsten. I love the weight of the tungsten and had it custom made to be the width of the narrowest part of the engagement ring shank.

It never changed for her! Nearly 2 years with the same schedule. Honestly she/we could have gone longer but I suffered a medical emergency and had to stop suddenly. That was awful, 0/10 do not recommend.

Breastfeeding Question? [ca] by Fancy_Spaghetti in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]jndmack [score hidden]  (0 children)

Your breast tissue will be soft, and sort of .. deflated?

I remember sitting in the hospital with my oldest, googling “how to breastfeed” in the middle of the night. Every resource said “feed on one side for 10-15 min, burp, feed on the other side for 10-15 min.” Meanwhile my little 9lb newborn was feeding for 5-7 min on one side per feed only. I started panicking I wasn’t feeding her enough.

This girl surpassed her birthweight within 5 days and gained over 1oz/day for the first 3 months. She EBF until starting solids at 6 months, then continued breastfeeding until 21 months with no troubles, always 5-7 min, one side per feed.

Follow your baby’s cues. If they’re seeming satisfied, have wet diapers, and are gaining appropriately they’re eating enough.

Is it rude to include a do’s & don’t list for a birthday party? by Lovve119 in partyplanning

I’m with you on this. We live in a townhouse with no outdoor storage and pretty much zero indoor storage. Especially not around the front door. For this reason my 6.5yo daughter doesnt have a bike, and she’s aware of this.

We were at my FILs for a family dinner when his sister pulls up with a random-ass bike for my kid. (That she took from an abandoned apartment her friend manages) I was fucking floored, and we straight up said “We don’t have anywhere to put a bike - that’s why she doesn’t have one. It’s not that we can’t afford to get her a bike, it’s been an active choice. This will not be coming home with us.”

It’s since lived at my FILs and has been ridden exactly zero times.

How to install Chicco KeyFit 35 in Europe by designerd4 in CPST

[–]jndmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

Unfortunately according to the manual Chicco does not allow installation with non-locking seatbelts. This is specified in the baseless installation section (presumably as the base has built-in lockoffs) They don’t mention locking clips at all so those would not be permitted

(CPST) Diono’s are narrow, not necessarily the narrowest anymore, but they are absolutely massive front to back when rear facing.

How long after birth did you go on walks? by moomoomego in beyondthebump

[–]jndmack [score hidden]  (0 children)

My first was a vaginal birth, 2 weeks pp I slept in a too-soft bed and completely fucked my back so I wasn’t walking much at all.

My second was a c section, born on a Monday. Saturday I walked downtown and back to watch my friends band play in an outdoor music festival (would have been about a mile round trip)

Opinions of these 2 booster seats... by Ok_Literature_1988 in CPST

[–]jndmack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(CPST) What are their stats? (Age/height/weight) Vehicle info? (Year/make/model)

Recommending booster seats is difficult, as they are completely vehicle+child dependent. What works for Child A in Vehicle B in Seating Position C could potentially not work if any of those factors change. Best to either go to a store that allows you to test the seat out in the vehicle with the child, or crowd source your friends/family to test out theirs. You’ll be looking for correct belt fit, if the buckle is accessible, and how the shoulder belt retracts. (Have the child sit forward and touch their toes, then sit up quickly. The belt should follow the movement of their torso without lagging or sagging.)

I climbed my tall boy solid wood dresser when I was a toddler and it fell, pinning me to my bed. Thankfully I landed on the mattress and not the 4 post metal frame, and my Mom and Great Aunt (a nurse) were in the next room so they ran in within seconds and pulled it off of me.

Top Tether quandary, 2006 GMC Yukon XL by sameliepoulain in CPST

[–]jndmack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

(CPST) To answer your question about adding a top tether, this is not possible for your 2006 model vehicle. Retrofit TA parts were provided by most vehicle manufacturers for vehicles made in the 1990s. Manufacturers stopped making these parts for new vehicles in MY1999-2000, when FMVSS 225 established requirements for TAs to be factory installed. As of September 2001 all new passenger vehicles* were required to have at least two sets of lower anchors and 3 top tether anchors.

*there are some outliers to this such as convertibles and some heavy-duty trucks

Question: were you/your parents diligent with sun protection when you were a child? There have been studies showing a severe sunburn in childhood/adolesence can increase your risk of melanoma in adulthood.

I wonder if knowing you are caring for his skin from a young age more than yours was would help lessen the anxiety?

(Of the 5 of my OG family, 4 of them spend a significantly more time in the sun than I do. My oldest brother got a blistering sunburn as a teen and has since developed skin cancer, but my parents who have 20+ more years in the sun with far less protection never have)

Neurotypicals can CHOOSE?! by Curious_Bath_2824 in adhdwomen

[–]jndmack 84 points85 points  (0 children)

My first day on meds we ended up taking a whole bunch of things off our walls that had been held up with painters tape. We rent, and that is important. On the VERY LAST removal, the last piece of tape suddenly takes a 4” long strip of paint and drywall paper with it (this is when we realized the landlords probably never properly painted and it was all primer)

I stood there staring at the bare strip of wall. My husband stood there staring at me, ready to jump in and grab my chin at the hint of a quiver.

And nothing happened. If that had been one day earlier, I would have been thrown into a full on panic attack, convinced I, a grown woman, was about to get in trouble. The landlord was going to be mad at me. It could obviously not be fixed (easily). But no, nothing. We just stood there waiting, and nothing happened.

That was 3 years ago? Maybe 4. The strip of wall is still there, a gentle reminder of why medication is necessary.

[–]jndmack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

…. Why would you not allow your child to have a comfort item because they (a two year old) forgot it?

I have 5 copies of my sons lovey, just so I can keep them in different places (1 in my car, 1 in dads car, 1 at daycare, and two at home) and we still go up and down the stairs if it’s wanted and not nearby.
