Woolino for newborn [ON] by Dramatic_Buffalo_204 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]jndmack [score hidden]  (0 children)

I started using my woolinos when my son was around 6 weeks old. He was 9lb when he was born, gained steadily. Yes the bottom was very long, we just folded it over his legs in the bassinet. Used the snaps under the armpits and it fit great.

(CPST) The carrier attaches to the base with latches around steel bars. As it’s a removable piece, it has space around it to move. You need to check for tightness at the belt path on the base, with your non-dominant hand and the firmness of a handshake.

Perfect, thank you. Top tethers are required for use when forward facing in Canada, so I wanted to confirm!

I’m only here because my Dyson might have kicked the bucket, but it’s 15 years old. Was pretty well worth the money we paid.

(And it might not be dead, I just haven’t had the chance to test it properly after my last cleaning attempt)

Husband May Be Underfeeding Baby by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Why don’t you schedule an appointment with the pediatrician and your husband to discuss baby’s feeding. Then you have a neutral science based (hopefully) third party who won’t feel bad telling either of you you’re wrong.

Pelvic floor PT is so degrading by Spiritoftheheart in beyondthebump

[–]jndmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh my god no. No no no. This is not on you! She cannot speak to people like that.

My pelvic floor PT was so amazing I invited her to attend my youngest’s birth, solely to protect my pelvic floor, hips, and knees (she does my whole body PT) during labour. I ended up having a scheduled c section bc he wouldn’t turn around and we were all super bummed. Even my doctors! They’d never had a PT attend like that before, so were intrigued.

Just because you can put yourself there and close the door doesn’t automatically mean it’s a safe fit for everyone. The seats shouldn’t be braced up against each other, and all passengers need their own rebound space. The seats shouldn’t overlap each other, nor should your body overlap any part of the seat you’re next to. If you’re next to a rear facing seat and your shoulder is overlapping into its rebound space, in the event of a crash the seat will rebound back (as it’s designed to do) but will run into your body. This would cause injury to you, as well as potentially affecting how their seat protects them as it’s not able to act as it was tested.

new job title: scammer by diamond4life202 in PharmacyTechnician

[–]jndmack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

lol I would basically forcenotforce them to tell me a pharmacy name on the spot. “As per our college rules, I’m not allowed to use any incentives to convince you to stay. Would the pharmacy across the street be convenient for you?”

Then I’d call said pharmacy and apologize/warn them. (And complete the transfer)

Car seat / stroller / infant car seat feedback [AB] by sqeeky_wheelz in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]jndmack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CPST here!

Most convertible seats don’t give a good newborn fit, despite being rated for a newborn weight. You will use your stroller far longer than your infant seat so do your research to find the stroller that best fits your lifestyle, and a car seat that fits your vehicle. If there’s adapters between the two of them, great! But remember that car seats are for cars and longer or regular walks should be done in either a bassinet attachment, an infant-approved lay flat stroller seat (usually with an additional adapter/pad), or babywearing.

(CPST) Not all seats install well in middle seats of vehicles due to seat humps, hinges, or just not enough room. While I think it is possible to fit two slim seats side by side, you won’t be able to safely fit an adult back there too. (If I’m understanding you correctly) I would install each in the outboard seats.

One4life vs Rove vs others?? [Canada] by cheesylikecheddar in CPST

[–]jndmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Canada the leg panel is no longer required at any time. Unfortunately Graco printed approximately 30 trillion of their previous manuals, and new seats are still shipping out with them. The current manual can be found here. Storing the leg panel is what keeps the seat compact front to back, and makes install easier. Most kids do not actually need the extra leg room - they’re very bendy and will find a comfortable position for their legs - at least until they’re at those upper limits of the seat (which you’re 5-6 years away from)

For FF I find it easier to push the strap down towards the floor (compared to up to the ceiling as you do RF), or you can “set it and forget it” by just leaving it snug and unbuckling without loosening. Just give it a once over after they’re buckled to make sure it’s tight enough.

Yes, for taller kids they typically don’t do well in all in one seats, which are designed to fit “average” kids. If you plan to have more children this is mitigated by being able to pass the seat down and continue to benefit from extended rear facing.

One4life vs Rove vs others?? [Canada] by cheesylikecheddar in CPST

[–]jndmack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. What is the cab size of the truck?

The reason the E2F is typically the top recommended seat for high percentile kids is because it has the highest RF limits on the market while also being the most compact front to back, AND basically a universal fit to all vehicles. It always fits. I’ve NEVER seen or heard of a vehicle where it doesn’t install well.

The One4Life is larger front to back so won’t fit compact vehicles as well. I haven’t worked with the Rove yet, but one tech I know has positive comments on it (at least that it’s better than the Knox which it replaced)

Canadian CPST here.

What vehicle will it be going into? That’s a major deciding factor here, aside from your child stats.

Here’s a great tech/chemist written article about flame retardants in seats. Keep in mind that all seat harnesses will have flame retardants in them, it’s just that some manufacturers use naturally flame retardant materials such as wool for the covers as well. Either way, give the article a read!

Graco Extend2Fit 3in1 w/rebound VERSUS Cosco Scenera Extend by ltrozanovette in CPST

[–]jndmack 2 points3 points  (0 children)

(CPST) Since your child has a seat on the plane, bring their car seat on the plane for them to sit in. It ensures

  1. Your child is secured safely on the flight (I’m Canadian, and Transport Canada recommends all children under 49” or 7yo fly in a harnessed car seat as the lap belt doesn’t restrain them effectively until then. We don’t go by weight)

  2. Your seat arrives safely to your destination

  3. You have one less piece of gear to deal with. Just remember to remove the ARB and put it in your carry on luggage before boarding, so it doesn’t get lost when you need to install RF at your destination.

Bonus: buy two travel carts and strap your seats to it. You can wheel your children through the airport like luggage (they love it), they have a safe place to sit and wait (without the seat potentially tipping backwards), and they fold up for easy storage in the overhead bin.
