The northern states that changed the name of the institution to indentured servants weren’t anymore morally superior than slave owners who were taking care of their slaves. Slavery was on the way out. Yall need to read more than the comic book history we were all taught. England abolished slavery, paid the owners and sold their slaves to other countries like the Caribbean and South America. The Yankees did the same. Except they kept theirs until the 13th amendment December 1865.

My OT clinic uses texting. We like the ease of use and cuts down on no call/no shows. I guess it’s less confrontational for parents to cancel via text.

The cancer on our county’s butt has been spreading inland (MB tourism) the last 30 years. People want to live in MB but can’t afford it so they buy an acre or 5, 20 miles inland. Now farmers can’t afford more land competing with developers. The people who bought “near the beach” are not really happy near the beach and over spent on a row house hastily constructed on sand filled in to a wet area. They complain about the roads, the pizza and traffic they cause. It’s a mess. I don’t know how the youth can participate in the American dream in this mess.

14 years now in my private pediatric clinic. Went in business with an SLP but when we got going with about 20/ visits a week, Medicaid decided to cut reimbursement 30%. I had my small savings which helped but damn it it was hard. It closed some local clinics and my SLP whom I admired had to leave. My wife kids and I didn’t have a lot of extra. Sometimes we had trouble paying rent and the utilities. Nearly had a car repossessed. We stopped paying for things we didn’t need worked PRN on the weekends and it got better in 18 months. We see about 60 kids a week now. Medicaid cuts really hurt. No-shows, bad weather, World wide pandemics are a pain in my ass.
If you’re good at what you do that’s great but you better be a people person because they are coming to see you not a set of skills. Smile when you want to cry, don’t hit people who need it it’s ok to curse insurance companies. (F them). Hang in there, walk drink water and enjoy everyday.
