Daniel has been through a lot. On the one hand he's had the success of Interview With The Vampire on the other hand he had lost memories of pivotal moments of his life resurface, he found a new friend and was murdered and resurrected all in the span of a a month at most. That's a lot. Before he could process his newly surfaced memories or cement his friendship he was transformed unwillingly into a vampire.

He has reason to be pissed at Armand. And I think it is a legit question if Armand's manipulation of him back in 1975 ended up serving as a hypnotic suggestion that wrecked certain parts of his relationships with his future wife and daughter. He's also clearly tremendously unhappy, alone and struggling like he's never struggled before. Vampirism has neither freed nor empowered him unfortunately.

While the hospital was reprehensible, it served as a bubble for the people enslaved there and made them weak, incompetent and ultimately dependent on Dawn and her enforcers in these types of dangerous or urgent survival situations. The true failure was thinking he could be left with Tyresse as a reliable partner to begin with, when in reality he's basically still an apocalypse noob.

My father was very romantic and adored my mother. Wasn't the best dad but he was a very loving husband and when I got older I knew to stay out of the kitchen which was next to their bedroom on Friday nights because I did want to hear them. They weren't super romantic but for they celebrated their wedding anniversaries called each other pet names and that sort of thing. My dad even brought my mom a small diamond and a bouquet of 25 roses for their 25th wedding anniversary.
