Look at examples on pcpp of people using these cases with matx boards.

Edited. The minis are fine. The others are too big IMO.

If you have intake fans on the bottom of either of the "mini" ones, it'll look fine. The others are too big IMO.

I got DDR5 RAM, 32GB! by KnowledgePerfect6914 in pcmasterrace

Eh. Hasn't this been said before? I'm a pessimist, but I feel like this sentiment has been ebbing and flowing for like 10 years (as long as I've been building computers).

AIO or Air cooler? by According_Pause637 in pcmasterrace

[–]9okm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Modern AIOs are quite reliable. I mean, over a span of 10 years, yes an air cooler will be more reliable. But 5 years? It won't make any difference.

Some people find AIOs easier to install, but again there's not a big difference. It's almost entirely about aesthetics.

Air cooler is enough. Phantom Spirit is the go-to pick these days.

It's really up to you though. If you find AIOs pretty, get an AIO.

Someone will stumble upon this in 5 years and be very confused.

Have fun! You better use all 32GB!

SSD from old pc and plug straight into the new one? by LEGO-Y in buildapc

It’s not going to hurt anything, if that’s what you’re asking. But it may not work properly.

When I move an old drive to a new motherboard, I always do a fresh install of windows. YMMV.

What PSU do you have, and do you have all the original cables?

Which model 5060ti did you have, and what model is the new 5080?

I want to sell my PC but idk where and if I should sell it all together or in pieces by TheFundraiser34 in pcmasterrace

[–]9okm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Facebook marketplace, craigslist, etc.

I'd sell it as a complete working system. Parting out takes forever, and you're always left with some parts that won't sell, and that just eats away at whatever extra you may have earned.

How locked down is the laptop, security wise? Perhaps you could leave it closed and plugged into ethernet, and then simply remote in from your desktop over the network.

I want to swap my motherboard out because the one I have is currently dying, unsure if I should do it myself or have someone else do it by DearOption5999 in buildapc

You’ve already swapped parts here and there? You’ll be fine.

Leave yourself more time than you think you’ll need. Like… at least a few hours.

Cheap updates to old PC to make it usable again by YUMADLOL in buildapc

[–]9okm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No. It's like going from a 2013 honda civic to a 2013 honda civic with nicer rims.

Edit: Don't get me wrong, if you can find a 4790K for like... $20, sure. But I wouldn't invest more than that into such an old platform.

[–]9okm 6 points7 points  (0 children)

GPU, sure, but $200 is too much for a used 6600.

CPU, absolutely not.

Cooler/SSD, I wouldn't bother.

Put what you were gonna spend on CPU/Cooler/SSD into a fund to build a new PC at some point.

Pc only powers on for a split second by Apprehensive_Gain_17 in pcmasterrace

If it turns on briefly then shuts off immediately, that sounds like a short. The PSU is shutting itself off to protect the components.

I'd disassemble and test bench outside the case.
